I'm sure that someone will excuse the actions saying the wayfinding posts are latent colonialism.

Sorry, just getting up to speed on what is now being used as an excuse for defunding police because the concept of law enforcement is somehow a colonial concept. Yup, that's what they're telling me now. I wish I was joking.

Frankly the only reason for downtown wayfinding these days is for figuring out how to escape that fresh hell.

Walking around this weekend I'd say 50% of these have been altered in one way or another. That said, I am told they are repaired quickly.

would be nice to see some of the CRL money used to upkeep the CRL area, instead of forging ahead with new shiny things like 42 Million dollars parks that will soon be unkept like the rest of downtown.

Walked from Jasper 109st-106st and there were 3 Wayfinding signs broken or missing panels.

Clearly these are NOT robust and sadly a target for vandalism.

Having been on the steering committee for these and that the same product was used in London, Vancouver and Cleveland, I recall them being sold as far more damage resistant than they appear to be...

Hmmmm.

Can anyone confirm if this rather key wayfinding location has been fixed? When I was back at Christmas 2022 it was but a metal frame and had been like that for about a year from what I recall.

Does anyone know what sign company the city has contracted for updates/repairs to these.

I tried holding back on this and not saying anything, but can't: if that isn't the most perfect metaphor for a hollowed out downtown Edmonton, I don't know what is.
