Wow, I thought this would still be in the proposal sub-forums.
However, the site is a mess of work for real.
Today by Cochise75 on SSC.

At this stage, it seems we can reasonably claim these will actually be going up sometime soon.

Significant for totally unrelated to La Défense.
We might even see a 2nd sizable high-rise cluster developed to the southeast of Central Paris in our lifetimes, that would be quite unexpected and an enjoyable surprise to locals like myself.

We already had that bunch of residential buildings built in the 1970s over the southern 13th arrondissement, at the edge of the inner municipality.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/13th_a...ement_of_Paris

All these are more or less 300-ft / 30-story tall.
But enraged NIMBYism has completely stopped high-rise development over there for 4 decades.
Mhm, you read that correctly. It's been some 40+ years since the last tower was erected over there.

Duo is not exactly on the same spot of that Wiki panorama at all, but not too far in the skyline either. So hopefully, it sounds the trumpet to resume skyscraper construction over this large arrondissement and over the adjacent suburban neighborhoods too.
Besides, unlike La Défense, this area's not awkwardly saturated with offices, so the main office tower is welcome right there.

It's been a long while since we took a look at this site...

https://www.devisubox.com/dv/dv.php5...sRef=2APYFZUNP

That's a pretty large hole down there, innit?
Foundation and parking garage for both buildings, eh.
No way that hole would be meant for a single building.

I know nothing about construction management and engineering, can't even begin to figure how hard something like this must be to handle, but I got to say I'm impressed how tidy and well organized it all seems to be over here.
Lovely site, isn't it? Feeling proud of guys working there. I sense good savoir-faire here.

On a side note, hopefully plants end up growing for real to the green 'Biodiversité' building, as it was showed off on their idealistic marketing renderings...
This is an affordable housing building subsidized by the City, still looking a bit messy for now.
If I remember well what they said, architects on the French forum still sound frustrated by this building.
Still, I suppose it wouldn't be so bad with big jungle plants on the façade.

I'm feeling doubtful about this.
Just not sure this is the right place to post anything like that, but there's a real exclusive feel of a tower crane and of the site in that video.
So be it.

Video Link

Needless to say, that kind of attitude and videos always raises controversy over here.
I guess this is just one's typical French douchebag to show off their skills at being a bit crazy, at trespassing on contruction sites and putting their pitiful lives at stake, just for the fun of being sensational.

This guy nonetheless sounds caring, gentle, very self-confident and reasonable like a good smart boy, so this is not too disturbing.
Hopefully he doesn't kill himself, though. He will do it again and again, addicted as he seems to be to that sensation.

Notice it just rained, which makes it worse, of course. This was shot early in the morning, just a couple of weeks ago.
It was cold and humid; clearly not the best conditions...

These are not the approved designs that should be unveiled next monday, march 11.
They're only to show the scale of projects to come, to join these 2 towers on that spot.

http://gianniranaulo.com/portfolio-i.../06_bruneseau/

These proposals were dismissed. Hopefully approved ones will be both at least as tall and better.

^ Regarding this plan above, here's the approved thing.
Just quickly posting it here because I won't dare starting any thread before it's actually under construction, lol.
It is right next door to the Duo towers under construction here, hence related to this topic.

You get a better view/idea of components added by this new project alone, that's called "Nouvel R" on this mockup.

Content of the project.

In short, blue is residential, red is offices. There's also some student housing, sport facilities, retail... A bit of everything in there, mostly blue and red anyway.
The tallest tower (le Village Vertical) is 180m tall, maximum height allowed by zoning. There should be some great penthouses at the top of it.
The shorter residential tower (la Tour Seine) is 100m tall, should be less expensive and still provided with cool views by upper floors.

Alright, that looks fine, doesn't it?

You get more info, including some façade mockups and some renders of proposals that were dismissed on pass-archi's PRG (Paris Rive Gauche master plan) thread, with an opportunity to learn about some written French out there, lol.
We have to thank ZeusUpsistos and Vincent a lot for the good job as usual.

Do you seriously think "social distancing" is anything feasible on a site like this?

They're not even wearing any face mask, because they need to breathe.
I'm wondering how much money these workers make over here.
Certainly not enough. The French system has been a con, fucked up by the hellish national administration for decades.

Anyway, the towers will be funky just as anything by Jean Nouvel, showing a whole range of materials (probably to remind of what's been recently built nearby).

ZeusUpsistos is addicted to this shit... He's missed it for the quarantine.
I don't know who he is, but I like him.

This is not La Défense, huh. It's the southeast end of avenue de France in the 13th arrondissement, nearby Ivry.
