YIMBY took an exclusive tour of the top floors of Central Park Tower, a 131-story supertall at 217 West 57th Street in Midtown, Manhattan and holder of the titles of tallest residential building in the world and tallest structure in New York by roof height. Designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill and developed by Extell, the 1,550-foot Billionaires’ Row skyscraper yields 179 condominiums designed by Rottet Studio and marketed by Corcoran Sunshine, as well as a 320,000-square-foot, seven-story Nordstrom retail podium bound by West 57th and West 58th Streets and Broadway and Seventh Avenue.

Stepping off the elevator on the 100th floor, residents are welcomed by the final collection of amenities that make up the Central Park Club. These include a cigar room with a cognac lounge on the northern corner of the floor plate, a restaurant and bar, and the city’s highest ballroom that spans between the northern and southern ends of the tower. The floor-to-ceiling glass provides spectacular views of the city, the Hudson and East Rivers, Central Park, and more from over 1,000 feet above street level.

An additional suite of amenities is located on floors 14 and 16 above the retail podium. These include an indoor swimming pool and hot tub with a double-height waterfall, an outdoor swimming pool with cabanas, a screening room, an indoor basketball court, a fitness center, a tween lounge, a conference room, a spa treatment room, a lounge with a billiards table, and a courtyard with a bar and additional seating. Central Park Club’s total square footage measures approximately 50,000 square feet.

See the full set of photographs by @mchlanglo793 on New York YIMBY that show the full-floor penthouse on level 113, which measures 7,074 square feet boasting five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms with interiors done by Bryan Brown, and unit 92E yielding 4,296 square feet with four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms with interiors by Rottet Studio.

Will Someone Pay $250 Million to Live Atop the World’s Tallest Condo Tower? The Developer Thinks So.
Extell Development’s triplex penthouse at New York’s Central Park Tower is on course to become the country’s most expensive home

By Katherine Clarke
Sept. 15, 2022

Quote:
When construction topped out at New York’s Central Park Tower, the Billionaires’ Row mega-tower set a record for the world’s tallest residential condominium, at 1,550 feet high. Now, developer Gary Barnett is gunning for yet another record, aiming to achieve the country’s highest-ever home sale price.

Mr. Barnett’s Extell Development is asking for $250 million for the building’s penthouse, a triplex positioned at a height of more than 1,400 feet. The listing is the most expensive in the U.S., according to the listings website...

I mean if I was a Billionaire that's the spot I'd go for.
That terrace at night with perfect views of both Times Square, Central Park and the rest of Billionaire’s Row.

NYC penthouse to list for a record $250M: ‘You are above noise’

By Mary K. Jacob and Jennifer Gould
September 15, 2022

Quote:
The triplex penthouse unit at 217 W. 57th St. is set to hit the market on Monday for an aptly sky-high $250 million, building reps told The Post. If purchased at that asking price, it would mark the country’s priciest home ever sold, according to the Wall Street Journal, which was first to report the listing.

Specifically, such a high-figure purchase would crush the record currently held by billionaire hedge funder Ken Griffin, who spent roughly $238 million for four floors across the street at the Robert A.M. Stern-designed 220 Central Park South.

So far this year, the Aman New York at 730 Fifth Ave. has the highest-priced condo closings. Those prices span $53.38 million for a four-bedroom spread to $75.89 million for another four-bedroom home, according to data from Marketproof.

I wouldn't as I am sure that there is there is a monthly HOA fee, which is probably thousands of dollars a month. If there is not, I would be shocked, but perhaps they are throwing it as free in given the astronomical price (Not!). The billionaires in India and even China are probably getting brochures and invites to tour every week!

The building has zero lights at the top now. For awhile they had these dim, flashing lights on the top that were not impressive at all. Now it’s completely dark which seems very unsafe besides being an ugly tall dark box.
