Indeed, that and signage supply chain issues...

Plus, being that everyone is stupid, they can't find any good employees that know anything about signage. You really need a knowledgeable signage person to know how to buy the right signage.

Over the course of a few years, this block progressed from a disgusting eyesore to a source of pride.

This tower is nice, but absurdly short. Should be three times as tall.

Stupid NIMBYs, and stupid zoning.

And yeah, this block has gone from Taxi Driver-level dilapidation to extremely nice.

I disagree completely. I think the height is just right to preserve the sightlines of 15 Park Row from the ground. Any taller and it's likely the cupola would have been completely obscured. 25 Park Row made the same gesture by preserving the northern sightline, albeit it due to setback requirements.

I concur. I like how this and the Rogers building are bookends to this block.

Colorized 1937 photo showing the buildings that used to sit at the corner. This building will definitely be the best thing that's ever occupied the site:

But but but every building in the city has to be a supertall!! A city of nothing but generic glass super tall buildings. The only view anyone should have is into the apartment directly parallel to theirs in the next building which happens to look exactly like the building you live in. The dream is to turn the city into one giant glass super tall rectangle.

What Park Row looked like in 1982, with J&R Music World where 25 Park Row currently rises. Crazy that this remained this dumpy looking for another 30+ years. That said, still sad that technology and shopping habits killed off J&R:

^ I think the end product will be a hybrid of the two released renderings. The structure as built has floor plates that line up with the previous rendering (and with architectural elements of the Park Row Bldg) but with window arrangement that appear more like the the rendering on the fence.

The 33 Park Row thread is locked so I thought I'd post this old postcard here:
