^ Ha! Someone has to make this tower entertaining...

Well it's worth the effort when you're playing to such a small audience* ... but the VIP guest (you) gets a chuckle.

BTW, on this audience topic, your post contributions were also featured in the Compilation thread.

*"there are no small audiences". Or put another way, hundreds in attendance clapping with one hand, 3 or 4 clapping with both.

Things seem to be moving along now that all the gear (like self-climbing construction elevators) is in place.

Miraculously they have finally poured/are pouring concrete in the 4 missing floor-plate corners (which have the hangers)… lots more corners left to do (never understood the logistics behind leaving those hanger corners until later, but would love to know).

Nice! It looks like this may actually be finished this decade!

I don't know. There's only 7-1/2 years left in it.

Replace decade with century and maybe, just maybe I'll agree

In all seriousness though, is this on hold? When will we know the final height?

I don't know what you guys are complaining about, it's only taken 7+ years to get to this point

I expect it will be completed in under a decade, take that WTC!

It was a joke, but it is taking extremely long. That's why I'm asking (in all seriousness) if it's on hold.

The other 200+ projects aren't bringing Toronto into the 300+ club though.

Shoring the site to excavate 5 storeys down (and building a staging platform over the excavation began in October 2018 so it's approaching four years to get to this point. The tower is 30 plus F.S.I. (no room for staging) at one of the busiest intersections in the nation and in the middle of a traffic jammed downtown core. Logistics is going to be terrible. It's clearly not on hold either.

I recall the average price per square foot being around $2500 when sales began 6ish years ago and that the average presale condo was selling around $800 to 1000 per square foot. Now the average presale condo is $1800 to $2000!

the latest update from Tuesday.. work continues on the 12th level now following the 11th level pour. It is definitely moving a bit quicker now, albeit still at a very, very slow pace..

Shit, it's still deadeningly slow. I only check in on this one every few months, and it never seems to have moved. Maybe there will be noticeable progress a year from now.

I hate to emperor's new clothes this thing but am I the only one who finds this design extremely ugly for our first supertall? I'm sensing I probably am based on the overall tone of this thread but I just had to ask.

If "extremely ugly" is a "1" on a scale from 1-10 while perfect gorgeous masterpiece is a 10, then yes you're probably the only "1". But I'm sure there's plenty people who fall across the rest of the scale. I'd say I'm a 7. I'm satisfied with the design and consider it generally attractive but I'm not in awe or anything.

Don't ask people not to debate a topic. Just stop making debatable assertions. Problem solved.

Indeed. To each his own aesthetic preferences, but I would also give it a 7 or an 8. It has pleasing proportions.

Looks like they're starting the slow march upwards with the corner plates, but they no longer appear to be cantilevered. Are those corner columns steel or concrete? I ask because I don't see any column form work.

Ignoring deductions for the epic build time-line ;-), and having seen the gorgeous cladding mock-ups a couple of years ago, I'd give this an 8.5.

The hanger elements in particular make this exterior geometrically memorable.

If Sam get his height increase... this will be a 9+ on completion (hope I'm around to see it).

Heritage component of the podium today.

Northern Light

Once the forms move up, the next set of hangers for 3 more floors will be installed (to be followed by concrete pours for the missing corner pieces).
