Covid shut Amtrak trains down initially, then crew/equipment shortage, but it has now resumed. Both train and bus departures, and they just ordered new train sets. They are slowly working to eventual high speed rail, although that's a long way still.

Thanks for the comments all. Since we didn't stay downtown, we ended up driving through it multiple times (along with a trip on the ferry + skytrain) and I feel like we didn't see nearly enough. I didn't get to explore many individual buildings either as I like to. Traffic in a city without freeways and limited train service (especially coming from Southern California) was frustrating. For the record, that was our own fault for staying on the other side of Vancouver Harbour.

If you stayed in North Vancouver, there's literally a freeway that bisects the city?
