First Look: Cleveland Foundation Headquarters Officially Opens Today

The Future: A Nightlife District

More construction by the Cleveland Foundation has already started on the lot across East 66th Street.

That building, the future home of MidTown Collaborative Center, is the next, 95,000-square-foot step in the Foundation’s plan to create a hub for the MidTown District along East 66th Street that offers a “sense of arrival,” says Kuri.

The president and CEO knows that a neighborhood can’t thrive off of workspace and industry alone. So, the plan is to create a multi-use district with apartments, a music venue, a restaurant (Pearl's Kitchen), a brewery (Black Frog Brewery, Northeast Ohio’s first black-owned brewery) and a park that winds between the Cleveland Foundation HQ and the historic Dunham’s Tavern and connects to Chateau Hough Winery.

Developer snags former Lakewood auto dealership site for $2.6M

STAN BULLARD

The former Steve Barry Buick properties in Lakewood are under the control of Rocky River-based real estate developer NewBrook Partners, whose partners have signaled plans for a major apartment-retail project on the site.

Lakewood Detroit LLC, which lists NewBrook's office in downtown Rocky River, paid $2.6 million for the 2.74-acre site, according to Cuyahoga County property records. The property, which spans both sides of the street around the 16000 block of Detroit Avenue, was sold July 6 by Fairlane Realty Co. of Lakewood.

NewBrook plans to pursue a mixed-use project consisting of [160+] apartments with retail space and amenities for tenants on the first floor, according to Shawn Leininger, Lakewood director of planning and development.

CWRU wants new $300M research building to boost economy, add brainpower, erase racial boundary

Published: Jun. 05, 2023
By Steven Litt, cleveland.com

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Case Western Reserve University has high ambitions for the new, $300 million research building it’s planning as the biggest single investment on its main campus in decades.

Emerging designs for the new Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Building, made public today through cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer, depict a project that could send ripples across the CWRU campus, the surrounding University Circle area, and the rest of Northeast Ohio.

***

CWRU plans to start construction in late 2024 and complete the new building by 2026.

***

The university is also spending $110 million on building two new dorms in its South Residential Village.

Curious, how many of these new constructions are going to be residential vs commercial?

From what I understand, the commercial real estate industry is struggling pretty hard right now, nationwide.

you can scroll back and take a look and decide for yourself.

i hope you stay and can contribute stuff you see and hear about here.

Keep up the great Cleveland updates. Cleveland has real bones and tons of character that most US cities it's size don't and absolutely none in the booming South.
