Amazing really 50 years after the Twin Towers were finished we are still hovering over a similar height mark for an office tower. Grand Hyatt will change this finally though.

Maybe?

^ The office portion of 175 Park will be similar to that of One Vanderbilt. It’s the hotel portion of that tower that pushes it higher. It was agreed that there really was no need for putting office workers much above 1,000 ft, especially considering the elevator space that would be required for it. Sky lobbies are a thing now, but developers and tenants are comfortable not really pushing that envelope. Residential and hotel is another matter.

At this point, it’s already taller than the former Union Carbide Building!

Construction passed the former Union Carbide building at 707' some time in February, the building is around 775' right now.

Everything We Know About 270 Park Avenue

By Diana Budds

What do critics have to say about the new building so far?

Alexandra Lange described it as “a son of Hearst Tower grafted on creepy legs.” She also argues that JPMorgan Chase’s environmental claims are mostly greenwashing.

^ This is as far as I could get, before the stupidity of the person who wrote that article forbid me to go any further…

It’s a real choice to put up so much new office space in midtown while real-estate investors are wringing their hands over how empty the neighborhood is.
There’s no “choice”. JP Morgan Chase occupies several million square ft of office space in the city, which this tower will hold a fraction of.

Been on a "setback watch", just a floor to go. It will be a significant step for this tower.
