Orange County Museum of Art in Costa Mesa, CA

The new building of the Orange County (CA) Museum of Art (OCMA) had its grand opening on Saturday, 10.8.2022. In my lifetime, OCMA was located at two previous buildings, a smaller one in Newport Beach, and then when the new building was under construction, the old one closed, and the museum was temporarily at a shopping center location in Costa Mesa.

The new museum location opened at 5pm, and was open for 24 hours for its opening day. I said to my partner "Hey, wanna go to it after midnight or something?" He said yes, so we did, and even at 3:30am, there was a line to get in. It seemed like a fast 50 minute line, though.

Here are some pictures I took of it. I took more pictures of the art displayed, but didn't post ALL the pictures I took that night/morning.

Nice looking building. I have some architect friends that got invited to a private opening of this with Morphosis. Some amazing forms and spaces.

Thank you for posting this thread, I have been avoiding actually viewing it until now because I did not want any spoilers! I visited today for the first time so now I can enjoy your shots and it looked busy! There was no line to get in today but it was still popular for a Thursday! I enjoyed the front facade's curved forms and the spacious roof terrace and steps, I took photos so I will eventually post them in the museum thread.
