So, based on what's on the board today, The Independent (Austin's current tallest at 690') will be the 10th or 11th tallest by 2026ish!?!

WOW!

Amazing!!!

I really like 4th and Brazos. It's not just a bunch of blue glass.

Not a fan of the ginormous podium though. In the future when there are self-driving cars there are going to be a lot of loft apartments with strange, split level floorplans that advertise a sloping living room floor as a feature

Is that wood in the spandrel spaces? If so, that would be very unique. The 17 floors of parking is a bit egregious, but otherwise this looks pretty awesome, with a huge dependency on the materials used.

It's probably a fake wood material similar to what's being used on the midrise Whole Foods expansion on the other side of downtown.

Yeah I agree I like the wood look. This is a great looking building! Love the ground floor retail and Paseo!

The rounded corners looks a bit retro-80s to me. But I like it.

Where’d you get that the material for the Whole Foods expansion is fake wood? Whatever material it is, it looks really good in person. Here’s some pics for reference.

That Whole Foods Expansion Building is a great example of a really nice design being beset by poor or sub-optimal craftsmanship. The uneven black flashing on top of the silver tiles and uneven bottom to some of the curves of the silver tiles take an otherwise excellent design and make it feel a little cheap. Otherwise, that's a great building. Will try to check it out in person when I'm in Austin this weekend for the first time in over 6 years.

Lincoln Ventures Announces Mixed-Use Development at 80 Rainey

Quote:
Today, Lincoln Ventures, an Austin-based student housing and multifamily developer, announces the company’s new mixed-use property located at 80 Rainey Street in Austin. The multifamily development will rise to 49 stories in the heart of the Rainey Street District and will include 644 residential rental units, bars and restaurants. Lincoln Ventures is set to break ground on the tower next summer with an estimated completion date of summer 2025.

The site will bring together properties between 78 and 84 Rainey Street, which currently house two bungalows that will be preserved in order to maintain the spirit of the Rainey Street District. The tower’s ground and second floor retail will include several food and beverage concepts, over 5,000 SF in size, and a dedicated 2,200-sq-ft space that will serve coffee during the day and cocktails at night. The final retail space facing Rainey Street will be a special elevator lobby that will take the public up to the 11th floor pool deck and bar. This will be Rainey Street’s first publicly-accessible foray into the sky.

“The old bungalows, locally run bars and pedestrian-friendly streets are what make Rainey Street a special and desirable destination, so it’s our intent to maintain the vibrancy and unique character of this area and build upon it,” says David Kanne, CEO of Lincoln Ventures. “We will also maintain the character of Rainey Street by bringing in local Austin artists to design public art pieces and will place new, oversized trees along the public parkway section along the entire façade of the building.”

^^^Oh...and the 710'/46-story Republic office tower is alive. Just received final approval. Soon thereafter, they filed a number of construction permits!

It's crazy to think Austin could have a supertall, two 800'ers, five 700'ers, two 600'ers, and several more over 400' tall - all under construction at the same time.
