Superb! Great first step in redeveloping this block and moving onto the 600+ footer. Let's go!

Are there any renderings on the redevelopment of Embassy Suites?
I'm really hoping for a complete makeover.
They could really do something wild here.

Drove by this yesterday, while I couldn't get a photo, the lot is completely fenced off and and lots of heavy machinery on site. Seems like this is a full go.

Drove by yesterday. Lots of digging by heavy equipment and numerous people on site. Steel has been delivered for shoring up the foundation. We should move this to construction.

Can't move to construction until official foundation work. Once we see rebar we can move the thread.

OK, Hunter Robert’s is the general contractor. Their signs are prominently posted at the site.

Archdiocese forges ahead with high-rise redevelopment of cathedral block | KYW Newsradio
Excerpt:
Gavin said preparations are underway for the next step: “The construction — at least as it’s envisioned by the master developer — of a 23-story building on the land where the convent sat, as well as the parking lot area over there on that southern side of the archdiocesan pastoral center.”

He described the plan: “Twenty-three stories that would include approximately 273 apartment units, 2,500 square feet of ground-floor retail, and approximately 18 underground parking spaces.”

Even though the design is pretty generic I will take 273 units and only 18 parking spaces with ground floor retail. I hope this helps activate this part of Center City which is definitely on the quieter side.

I wish the design were a bit more exciting, but yes, lots of new residents and more retails. Plus, the Embassy Suites apartment conversion, Victory Brewing Co. taking up a huge retail space, talks of a gambling/sports gaming venue opening in the Drexel Building. All of these will hugely impact that stretch (for the better).

My realistic wish-list, I want that Subway and little building to go at 17th and BF Parkway. I don't know if that plot is large enough for a slender project, but I would rather a nice little park than a Subway...

And the Sheraton needs a complete exterior overhaul.

I think the gambling venue is considering the Drexel Building on 15th and Walnut, not the building on the parkway currently occupied by Drexel University. (I've always held out a secret hope that the beautiful Drexel Building could become one of those multilevel RH galleries, but I don't see it happening with the KOP cannibalization of center city retail... sigh)

Does anyone have any articles or anything about the sports gambling place? I haven't read anything about it.

O yes, duh. Does Drexel U plan to move medical operations out of that building in the coming years as U City Square moves along?

And me too! That is so funny. It would be awesome to see a multi-level flagship with a nice café at the top. Similar to their Chicago and NYC concepts.

And yea, KoP steals all retail thunder from CC.

But Philadelphia can certainly support its own RH store, its just a big financial undertaking these days (for any retail brand).

Separated these threads as well. This thread will be for the future 600-footer.

You didn't get this from me.

Will be called Two Cathedral Square. Doesn't look 600 FT, but looks to be over 400 FT.
