Its crazy to me that it has taken so long for this tower to get off the ground. Seems like it can never get traction or have the stars align. This is as good a time as ever, the real estate market is on fire. Are they planning for rental or condo units? Or a blend of both?

I know, this poor building. Any bets on which finishes first, 1000M or Tokyo Hotel?

I've been searching for leads or development news on this lately but have turned up nothing. Crescent Heights is being very tight lipped, but let us know if you come across anything.

LinkedIn post from McHugh Construction

"The rumors are true – 73-story condo tower, 1000M, stopped construction during pandemic but construction will restart as apartments later this year or early 2022. We’re excited to continue building Chicago’s skyline!"

That McHugh post from LinkedIn certainly makes this one rising from the dead feel more real.

Here's to hoping.

The rendering is so old that a 600 foot tall tower that was completed nearly 3 years ago 2 blocks away is not in it.

Here's hoping it actually moves forward successfully this time.

Until I see an article about financing being secured, I'll keep any excitement tamed.

This plus the 78 are really gonna fill in that part of the South Loop skyline from this angle.

Not as tall but 525 S Wabash will definitely bulk up that view, right behind Congress Hotel and to the left of One Financial Place.

^ yes...the south loop def needs more depth or bulking up as some say...for a more cohesive skyline into the loop core/westloop

Southbank/Riverline should also help bulk up the gap from Ida B Wells to Roosevelt

for sure. no one should be busting out the dancing bananas yet.

no money, no tower. that's how it works.

still, the LinkedIn post from McHugh is a good sign none-the-less.

they wouldn't have put themselves out there like that if they didn't have at least some confidence that financing for the re-tooled project would likely be secured sometime in the next handful of months.

but yes, until that financing deal is signed, tempered enthusiasm is the order of the day.

I'm having flashbacks to the Spire site. You should have posted this before Halloween, Solar. It's a real trick.

Yea, luckily this wouldn't be nearly as much of a loss...

Stalled South Loop Skyscraper Restarts

https://www.chicagoarchitecture.org/...aper-restarts/

Quote:
Now, a South Loop spy who prefers to remain anonymous tells us that construction workers have begun bricking up the north-facing windows at 1006 South Michigan. That’s the building that will bump uglies with the south side of 1000M, so a good bricking is required before anything interesting can rise next door at number 1000.
We definitely need some photos to confirm this, but an exciting prospect.
