Just a technicality of course...I presume most natives would associate this district as downtown, relative to any other area of town... just as they would the Alamodome or Sunset.
Ya, if a local told you he was going to Ruth Chris Steakhouse in St Paul Square (adjacent to Sunset Station) - and was asked where in town that was...I don't know one that would say "Eastside". Every last person would say "Downtown."

Actually, the Alamodome is in "downtown." Atleast according to the city.

From the City of San Antonio Registered Neighborhood Associations pdf off the city website:

Is there a link to that map? Can you post it? And the website it came from? I've been wanting some good maps and info on San Antonio districts and neighborhoods.

The Vistana

Hey Everyone!!

I got my hands on the plans for Vistana and it is going to be awesome.

The detail is incredible, the plans for the penthouse are unreal, and there will be a lighted "octagonal lantern with translucent wall panels" at the top that should bring the total height to ~224 ft. Not bad, I say.

The Vistana is right near Market Square @ Santa Rosa/Houston, I do believe...

Very nice building, but Waaay to wide. Why does SA always have to build low rises instead of high rises. Can you imagine how awesome this building would be if it were half as wide and twice as tall instead.

Fairly large massing (or floor plate) for a rental property, but it will bring people downtown... Balconies might just soften the appearance from the large floor plate...

I think it looks nice from the rendering, but i would be curious to know what they plan for the ground floor retail fronting the sidewalk??

Love the crown though and I hope they intend to illuminate it at night..

Low rises aren't always a bad thing, especially when they're high density low rises. What matters most is that it's high density, (which this is)... It will mean more people living downtown.

A good combination of low, mid and highrise high density residential housing will be a good thing for DT San Antonio..

The highrise residential towers will eventually come...

the Vistana plans show no balconies for the units facing Santa Rosa or Commerce. However, the building is sort of an L-shape with the pool area and green space on the 6th floor with units forming the "L" around it.

All of the units that face the pool area will have patios/balconies, as well as nice views of the city to the north and east - while all of the south and west facing units will not have balconies. A long hallway will divide the building down the center through the length of the "L".

Very interesting approach.

Nice update. Always better to see progress than just read about it.
