Makes me sad I won't know what the Chicago urban landscape will look like in 250+ years.

When were the west facing balconies added? JDL's site's renderings still show no balconies via https://jdlcorp.com/projects/one-chicago

Also the vertical cladding seems to be simplified or mostly removed.

Looks great, although I don't know that I'd want to be in one of those units uplit close to the source of that lighting; like constantly living above the Bat Signal

Is that the latest architectural drawing, and is the floor count in this drawing consistent with what has been reported as 78 floors. Very difficult to verify from this drawing.

The one you posted is outdated. The hi-res posted on Instagram yesterday is the newest, most up-to-date rendering.

Totally agree. I'm rooting for JDL big time. Hopefully this is the first of many skyline changers for them.

JDL will create something special here. I think they are hometown heroes. They won’t cheap out. They intend to create a great space here, and the ground level treatment will be top notch, I predict..

After looking at the chicago diagram its a shame they couldn't get another 100ft to make its presence even more impactful as Hancock.

It's obviously the skyscraper fan in me, and not someone putting his money on the line to develop this thing, but it just seems like shaving off of the second tower to increase the height of the first would have made more sense. Or why not leave the second shorter tower off the build for now and develop it later, thus giving more attention and resources to the taller tower? I know I'm operating with less information than them but sometimes it doesn't seem like they are making the right move as I see it from the comfort of my computer screen...

If Conservatory Tower and Mandarin were built which were right at the same height as this one, I wouldnt mind this height as a regular from boom to boom. But like people had been saying. We are running out of prime parking lots for super talls. start tearing down.

In this part of town I'd almost rather prefer the two towers to fill out the skyline... obviously a supertall would be preferable but these will do just fine

Hopefully this part of town will become a haven ala 57th street in NYC for developers to push height limits in the city without nimby pushback

Will do just fine??? The taller of the two is only 13 feet from being a supertall. This project is going to be more than just filler.
