Wow, there's tons of space available in north midtown near SCAD.

The good news is that SCAD is building a second residential tower on their old motel dorm lot, the Jewish Federation is exploring options to redevelop their lot, and Midtown Union Phase II will be built on the other side of the Center for Puppetry Arts from that, so a lot of this view will hopefully be filled in over the next few years.

When is SCAD going to start back on construction on the new tower? They started and then stopped a few months ago.

That beige building is going away for Phase II, correct? Such an eyesore.

SCAD dorms

They demo'd the existing "Spring House"/ converted motel, but they have not started on the next phase. The dorms and auditorium will consume the site that is currently vacant.

Very cool but is it a true pic, photoshopped of a painting? Where is Colony Square in the pic? It is older than 1180 but doesn’t appear on the left. Also seems some buildings are missing along the Peachtree spine to me. Where is Coca Cola HQ? Also from the angle of the pic, wouldn’t you see the Cobb highrises at Overlook and toward Cumberland? I could be wrong but I think it’s not a true pic.

I think its a true pic. It appears to be the exact pic of what appears on Mark McKay traffic helicopter reporter WSBTV twitter page. And I don't think he would have photoshopped it. Angles, fog, distance, perspective, etc may hamper some identification.

Agree. He posted this pic to Instagram the same day he posted other foggy Atlanta pics, so its stands to reason they were all taken on the same day too.

ATLriser - The Cobb highrises are outside of camera view (they would be to the right). I recreated a crude version of this pic in google earth. The altitude isn't quite the same, but the position (just south of the 285 bridge) and angle are close.

903 Peachtree and the Juniper Tower will fit nicely in that shot.

Yes! Even without the other amenities, I can definitely see the appeal of that location.

Stunning view. I can only imagine it is very therapeutic in person, just sit back and take it all in.
