Finally feels like they are making some sort of progress now. Still much too slow, but at least things or movin' on up. Now I feel old using that reference.

Yeah, this is good to see. I'm still so confused by the order they are doing things, but at least it seems like a bunch of progress has been made.

That said, last time I walked past it (which was months ago), it looked they were doing a bunch of work on the parkade of the second tower, so that may account for the seemingly slow progress on this one.

Those windows are embarrassingly tiny. For a while I was worried if there was a solvency problem with Baydo etc., and that the entire project was on hold. Good to see there's at least some additional activity. This really has to be one of slowest moving projects.

Does anyone have any insight into Baydo's plans regarding the second tower?

For punched windows those look pretty standard for high-rise use.

However on a positive note, the windows above the parkade appear larger than the rendering.

Maybe it's just an optical illusion from the photo, but it almost looks like it's tilted to the right.

Since it's the north tower, the large windows we're seeing above the parkade are part of the resident amenity space that will exist between the two towers.

I was driving by the Baydo site today, so stopped and snapped a few shots.

That's hopefully now a normal update, meaning it's cool to see weekly progress. Thanks so much, Crisis!
It still says, after a year of ads: "Now hiring all positions". You'd never see that in my day, as a kid, looking to buy his first car. What gives?
Why can't they find enough workers?

For more than a generation, the construction industry has been promoting trades as a great career and failing miserably.

I was chatting about this with one of our Site Superintendents last week and he commented that the work has never been easier, from a physical point of view. Powered equipment and cordless tools for almost everything - it's not the bull work it once was, yet we still can't get many young people interested in a career as a tradesperson. Even unskilled labour is proving hard to find. I could go on, but don't want to derail this thread.

Very interesting! in many industries, like the tar sands or even at Timmies, they have many foreign workers. why not in construction? unions? don't seem to be important in Alberta can't be that important for basic labourers... nowadays? Anyway, an interesting topic. not everyone can be a tic dork star tho

Sorry for the bad quality photo, it was taken from my dashcam. Cool to finally see it take shape.

these will fill a large sky gap in the line nicely. if the other one between the churches goes ahead, it'll be looking pretty dense down there! now we just need a couple between Saskatoon square and Nutrien somewhere. Thanks for the dash cam perspective!

Given your username, a dashcam photo seems quite fitting.

Actually, they do seem to be making a bit better progress going up these last few months given how 'static' it was before. Any word on if they are proceeding with 2nd Tower is it a wait and see game.

Yes, they finally seem to be moving on this.

Also, one key thing note shown in those photos is that they are well out of the ground on the second tower's base. So the seeming lack of progress could have somewhat been due to them working on the other parkade.

Hopefully now we'll see this go up quickly like what happened with their Broadway project once they were out of the ground.
