Via Earthcam. Edited the camera view to get this angle.

One of the big boys. Vista is phat. Not as phat as Sears, but still a heavy tower.

Although it was built back in the day, I always liked Aon. Prob one of my top 3 Chicago towers if I had to pick.

July 21st, afternoonish.

Dang, this tower is beautiful. It's futuristic and cool, but it also looks like it always belonged there.

/\ Agree, very few cities can be hand drawn and be recognized instantly by the shape of their buildings!

I think eventually most of us will get used to the quasi-random dark stripes.

One of my favorite angles of the city, always. And always best with that sunset lighting

That's the color the glass was intended to be (green) but they balked at the extra cost. Still not exactly sure how a particular dye costs more than another. Whatevs.

Will anyone shoot me if I declare the building ugly? The attractiveness of that building escapes me, particularly when my eyes are riveted to the best looking condo building in Chicago: the curvy Lake Point Tower.

Variety is the spice of life. You might like blondes, whereas I might like brunettes. It is very hard to get universal consensus on just about ANYTHING in life. You may be the outlier but your opinion, wrong though it may be, is still welcome. What I will say is that going back to my comment about the spice of life - VARIETY - it is great to have this tower in Chicago as it adds something different while at same time it adds yet another dynamic, eye catching Chicago tower.

........... and yes, to my eye - she is a beauty.

I would also add that while this tower is dynamic and different.... so "different" in fact that it is, dare I say, the only tower in the america (the world even?) that looks like it... and yet it fits within the theme and overall design of the Chicago skyline -- no small feat -- but this one pulls it off. To have the dichotomy of being completely unique and yet, fitting seamlessly within the skyline is borderline master stroke material.

Nah, it's just one of those buildings! Hate it or love it, the design evokes strong emotion. Lake Point Tower is legendary for sure.

Yeah this is the only other frustum design I can find on google, and I don't think it was ever built?

Just curious if you've seen it in person up close. Like Gang's other chicago tower, Aqua, its much easier to appreciate this way.

The blowthrough floor broke the design for me. It attracts my eye too much and I don't like what it did to the overall design.
