The bottom half is supposed to be Red, and the top is Green...also, if you look at Optima 1, while is mainly black on bottom, blue on top, there is a third curtain wall type that is used at the strore fronts that looks like this same clear-ish type. I bet this is one of those sections of Optima 2.

update today:

I think they are on about a floor per week pace now that they are past the garage and amenities floor. maybe even slightly faster. Also, they have begun to install glass on the front (illinois) side of the building.

I was looking at the rendering on the site barrier on Saturday. It appears to be a little different than the one's we've seen here. It looks like as confirmed by the Grand Street elevation that the parking garage will be clad in black glass on the north side. It looks like the black glass then extends down the west side of the building and a few panels onto the south side. There is also some black glass on the south east corner on the extension toward Illinois St. The red is then only facing south and around the driveway court. It didn't seem to have any reflection in the rendering...maybe it is metal panel or something similar?

Not to be the barer of bad news, but the glass will be black and blue on both. No go on the red and green. They put up some black glass today :/

Thats crap...whats the point of renderings for in this city when they can completely make drastic changes like this.

For what it's worth, this is the rendering at the site.

Looks like the red glass has been relegated to the courtyard side of the complex. The glass that has been installed so far appears consistent with this rendering including the snazzy thin line of black glass underneath the red glass on the South exposure of the East sing of the base.

Also this appears to be the best placed outdoor pool on a rooftop in Chicago as of late.

Yeah, that's a relief to see, the red glass covering the podium makes it bearable that there is a podium so massive. Still a bit sad the glass on the tower looks to not be green

Yes Optima can use colorful accents well, but I honestly think the whole red base and green glass thing is going to look bad is real life, so I'm not sure I get the disappointment if it doesn't happen. Just my opinion, hopefully I'm wrong.

^ I would be more worried about the execution with another developer / architect but I think Hovey knows his shit.

^I still suspect that based on the low reflectance and lack of visible horizontal joints in the rendering suggest that the red area may be some material other than glass.

Red glass going up now on North elevation. It looks sick and has a perforated looking pattern of fritting. I don't think we are going to be disappointed.
