Thank you for the clarification.

Hmmm, you may be correct, because I just found this on their website:

http://www.marriottmarquischicago.com/

Additional stats:

- 1,206 guest rooms, including 47 suites
- 90,000 square feet of flexible meeting space
- Two 25,000 square-foot ballrooms
- 40 stories with views of Lake Michigan
- Marriott Greatroom
- Marketplace food court with locally-sourced foods and retail entrepreneurs
- Fitness facility
- Business center
- A location two blocks from public transit on the new CTA Green Line ‘el’ stop
- Part of McCormick Collection (exhibition space, event center, theater space, restaurants and more)
- Opening in 2017

BUUTTTTTTTTTT....the renderings above are still showing 52-53 floors, and these are from the actual hotel/company website. Has this increased in height, again?? So confuse...

Thanks for that, looks great. Any updates on the other hotel/data center project next to McCormick Place? (111 E Cermak.) Really looking forward to seeing this stretch of Cermak get reinvented.

The last thing I've heard is that they are working on agreements with the hotel operator and it will be a 3 pack of lower budget hotels by a mega brand. I was also told by a friend who works in the area that they saw soil test equipment there a while back.

^^Those renderings must be old. They don't account for the revised L shape tower footprint that came from the reduction to 40 floors. In the revised design, there is a shorter wing that spans between the main tower and the data center. It also shows an older version of the link between the tower and the ABC building.

In fact I think I just counted at least 50 floors on the tower.

Well, considering that the 'L'-shaped tower design has never been posted in the forum, and the renderings above are directly from the webpage for the project.......

Edit: oh good Lord, I'm an idiot; the building factoid area clearly says '40 stories', which must mean that the renderings are out of date. Sigh..

As far as I can tell, it looks like they plan on demolishing both existing Hyatt towers...

Honestly I don't hate it.
Would have liked the original proposal better, but...

The overall building height will be +443.5' (to the top of the sloped roof.) The wing extending to the east property line will terminate at +340.67'.

Concrete should start within a month!! (With the event center following about 2 months later!!!)
