Anyone have a link to good information on air rights? I'm confused how this works.

This video does a great job: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wehsz38P74g

And it's an amazing high-quality production to boot.

^^ This beauty is definitely alive again. So cool to see. Still nervous for some reason, lol. Such an embattled beginning. Just so happy for this continuing for the memory of Jahn if nothing else. A German born great that could have chosen anywhere to make his mark. Sense of pride he chose Chicago. With this and the JRT Center, 2021 ended up strong for his legacy, despite his passing.

I figure all of that close heavy rebar is for the mat pour.
Anyone have an ETA on the mat pour and how much yards are we talking about here. Its not a huge mat, just wondering how many cement trucks will be needed. That Rebar is so close it looks like high aggregate concrete is off the table.

A skittle would be hard to pass in between them.

Looking at the pictures... this mat seems like it's gonna be a thick one (~16')... IDK the dimensions but if it's ~100'x100' we could be looking at a ~6000cy pour (~600 trucks) if that's true

Well, porta potties are about 7 1/2 feet tall, so we're probably talking a 10' thick mat.

I bet they looked “bunched” on the left to support extra weight off that cantilever?

If you look on Google Maps they updated with new aerial images. It's not random at all. It's symmetrical on both axes, it's just not a regular grid.

I think if viewed from above it would look more regular than it does from this angle. Looking at the ground floor plan the 6 in the center (3 across and 2 back) are the core, three to the north of that and along the west side are the tower exterior columns. The two columns aligned with the south edge of the core to the east and west each appear to be resting upon 4 piers, this as Briguy suggests could definitely be due to the cantilever. I'm not sure what the one piers south of the core is that isn't aligned with anything but I suspect it has to do with not being able to place piers directly abutting the adjacent building and is taking some of the load from the south edge of the building.

It's a tight site with some structural acrobatics, and residential buildings tend to not be quite as structurally regular as office buildings, so the foundation configuration is going to be less regulated than we are used to seeing.

This thing is going up fast, looks like they're already working on the first floor. Will be a great addition to the michigan ave wall and fill in the sloop skyline.

It took them a long time between pouring caisons to building above ground level. Might be the longest wait between those two stages, come to think of it.
