Yep, just made it on the fly. There is a huge visual illusion it creates that is more obvious when i added more floors (20-ish)

Just finished a more accurate model of TN, and the building arrangement was corrected.
If TN Square were built like the renderings, It would look pretty interesting.
Realistically though, a 27 story hotel doesn't do much for the skyline.

It sure can make that area of downtown seem fresh though.

EDIT: It actually nicely plugs a gap between 201 Portage and MB Hydro

I'm sure it will add a lot to the street feel especially. Its always felt sparse downtown, relative to cities of similar populations, even with smaller buildings (like Ottawa for example) but more dense downtowns

It also takes away some parking lots, which I'm sure changes the scape of future developments moving forward (i.e. if one wanted to build a new tower downtown in the future, there are less parking lot options to choose from which only creates the need for either taller or more cohesive buildings), a part of a city's natural growth. Winnipeg moving towards 1 million people will be in a prime position of growth, and although its still a long ways out from happening, these things do make a difference I feel.

Provided they all come to fruition, of course

I seem to have an issue with viewing photos on SSP, in both Chrome and IE. Anyone else? Some days it's okay, others not working. I want to see the shiny pictures!!

^ That would cause a lot of frustration on a site so heavily geared to images..

Did a quick check on the photos/images in IE, Chrome and Safari, no issue. I always use FireFox with no problems?

It is an appealing looking structure, your right when it comes to Winnipeg projects, it stands out from pretty much everything we're used to, being located North of Portage Ave. is the real pleasurable aspect about this project for me.

And how about True North... If it gets built like the renderings, nobody will feel like theyre still in Winnipeg when theyre on the plaza. At least i wouldn't.

Was personally insanely shocked when I found out it would be 4 full towers. The city center will include a lot more in the future if skycity is built as well.

The TN plaza, CMHR and Skycity are all projects that are about as cool as MB Hydro headquarters. hopefully there's still a few years left in this boom.

"Oh the museum is so unlike Winnipeg"
"Oh the new part of the zoo is like going to Calgary or San Fran"
"Oh Hydro and Glasshouse have so many windows like in TO or VAN"
"Oh the Exchange feels like Boston or Chicago"

How about we're just like "oh, winnipeg's pretty sweet and so much is improving." Any time you talk to tourists they seem to have a MUCH better view and opinion of the city then people that actually live here. Gotta be about the only big city in the world that isn't proud or doesn't boast about itself.

Great renders Triton. I particularly like the view heading east on Graham. As for your comments, Buzz, I agree with you. IMO, it'll take time before we, Winnipegers, begin to realize that we do live in a great city. The shift is definitely happening though.

Awesome mockups, triton. TNS won't be a skyline game changer so much as it will help beef it up a bit.... which is still great in my books.

I agree with BigG, TNS and Skycity will really change the look of Graham. It'll actually start to resemble an urban canyon

Diagram would be veeery soon after.

But everyone here is right, this is more beef for us to enjoy as Winnipeggers. Something flashy to flaunt.

About a year ago i finally started to realize that this place can be pretty cool,
and other people my age are slowly realizing as well. Even my parents are only now finding a truly personal appreciation for the city and it's something we need.

The day this sign stops seeming so relate able marks a milestone. I was born in Regina though so I'll just point it at the rest of you

Winnipeg 2025 will be a completely new place with real pride at last hopefully. And honestly our downtown is only a tiny piece of the whole issue.

^ very nice shots. These towers collectively seem like they really up the skyline in significant ways, and Im sure even more important will be what they would bring for actually being in downtown (residents, more people, more density)

Hopefully, once TNS is done and if Skycity gets built, that this isn't the end of the towers in Winnipeg downtown for some time but rather promotes a steady stream of development moving forward.
