Funny how the Boyd Building on the right got turned into some kind of giant modern art sculpture!

It's funny how that rendering can make the building look slender. I real life i don't believe there is an angle where it isn't really massive.

Maybe it can look slender if you where someways back, but you'll be likely in Portage Place and can't see through the walls of course.

I think we should be able to see MB Hydro popping out soon from the CBC webcam:

Haha. Very funny.

Brick gives buildings a classic look. No doubt about that. I like glass and steel too.

I like the "Toronto brick" style of homes in Toronto and in Winnipeg. Are there any other cities in Canada that use the red or dark brown brick like that?

What I hate are skylines like Victoria and Saskatoon. Too boring.

Actually you can already see it just into view, note the orange tarps. Also the north crane will likely be raised before the next floor is added.

Ottawa has a decent amount of brick in the core areas. I like a nice variety, although if I had to be stuck with just old brick, I'd be pretty happy.

So what is the scheduled top-out date? I'll have to keep checking the CBC webcam on a weekly basis anyway.

Nice!!!

Never noticed the tarps, but when I posted it, it was dark outside somewhat.

A few hydro pictures….

The main atrium

Portage avenue at ground level

An interesting detail…this glass will be set within a large panel of tyndal stone…
the glass has a frit pattern on it that replicates the pattern of tyndal stone
