Update...The foundation is completed for the first and largest of the two Cliffe Street apartment buildings. Structure work is imminent. The second foundation is in progress and should be completed shortly.

I assume Happy Baker is going to move? They have a LOT of locations across downtown, but they literally already have a location in the brick building literally next door.

It's a shame this happened. The Barcade and Namaste have only recently been completed. They were basically brand new! Brews can probably really use some renos... 😉

With that said, I hope that the businesses have loss of income insurance that should kick in for any insured loss. Staff would qualify for EI benefits but of course that's less than what they would make if working.

Crappy situation all around.

If I had read all the messages I would not have needed to ask the question that I now deleted RE: Happy Baker location in the HSBC Place.

I see work is progressing to connect Attenborough to Reynolds. Guessing there will be quite a bit of activity there next year.

I had lunch at J's on the Northside the other day, and I overheard someone at another table indicating that a nearby building was going to be taken down soon. He was indicating eastward, towards the Irving.

I couldn't tell which building he was indicating (it could be one of the houses) but I have the feeling he meant the 2-story brick building where "New Beginnings Vape is/was. It does look like the building is empty now. Not sure what would be going in there, but could be something happening.

Saint Thomas closed Rigby Hall as a residence some time ago. Which makes me sad because that was where I lived my first year of university in 2008. Saint Thomas I assume no longer looks after the grounds.

Not owned by the University. The building, alongside Chatham Hall, is part of the Forest Hill property that STU sold for $4.3 million in July 2018. Since then, STU leased the building back to house students until Vanier was renovated. Now that the Vanier renovations are complete and ready for the fall, the Rigby lease is no longer required

That's the former auto glass garage we've been talking about. The lot is already fenced off, so I suspect they'll be clearing the lot soon.
