That's very neat!

If I recall, this temple is to be the main Sikh temple for the entire Maritimes and will be a large building. We will have to keep an eye on this one.

Incidentally, the photo you posted also shows the construction fencing up for the future St-Louis Wings site in the background.

I believe the location of the temple will be here:

Kinda middle of nowhere, but lots of room.

Shediac is building an outdoor rink/ball hockey facility at the cost of $900k, on Centennial Street, in behind Ecole Mgr Francois-Bourgois.

This lot is currently being used as a spot to store material for road construction at various locations around Shediac. There is constant loading and unloading of gravel and waste soil at this location. I live nearby and have been wondering the same thing.

I don't think they are starting on the new building just yet. I would be surprised if they were able to get the building started that quickly. Their plan was to build in 5-6 years before the fire so I doubt they have their plans ready yet. I would hate for them to rush and throw up a building for the sake of filling in the land, this is a large central location in Shediac and deserves proper planning and thought.

Photo of the Gahan Beer Garden, soon to open on the lower level of Captain Dan's on the Pointe-du-Chene wharf in Shediac.

Huddle photo

Although a beer garden, food can be ordered from Captain Dan's upstairs. Gahan will not be offering it's own menu.

Looks nice. But man, that picture looks like something from a video game. It's probably just the contrast, everything but the lit sign being shadowed, that gives it the video game appearance.

On the empty lot between St-Anne street and Maple lane just north of Main street. The historic house facing Main street is being preserved.

T&T states that so far this year (mid April), Shediac has already issued $34M in building permits. This compares to $6M in the same time period last year, and to a total of $55M for all of 2021.

The $55M last year was a record for the town. If this rate continues this year, the town could see over $125M in building permits issued.

Of course this won't happen, but still. Shediac is experiencing explosive growth.

Provincial announcement of a new nursing home in Shediac made yesterday:

T&T photo

- $70 million dollar facility to be built by 2025-26 on Breaux-Bridge Road.
- to be called Maison Providence, and will replace the Villa Providence.
- Seven building complex, all two storeys in height, totaling 190 beds.
- The existing Villa Providence will not be torn down, but will be repurposed, perhaps for a psychogeriatrics research facility.

First Of Three New Apartment Towers In Shediac On Track To Finish By November
SAM MACDONALD MONCTON, NEW BRUNSWICK, NEWS
https://huddle.today/2022/08/25/firs...h-by-november/

Building #1 in Breaux Bridge Estates is scheduled to open in November. Each of the three identical five storey buildings will have 95 units. Building #2 will begin construction in November 2023.

Quote:
Shediac is a retirement community, Girouard said, acknowledging that the price point and type of accommodations he’s building are intended for older renters – a group including retirees and empty-nesters looking to downsize.

“A lot of people coming from the city and outskirts are relocating to Shediac and the amenities in Shediac are more appealing – it’s a lot livelier than it was 15 or 20 years ago,” said Girouard.

“The southeast is attracting a lot of people from Ontario, Quebec, and Vancouver. When I deal with clients from Ontario, they know we’re on the map for our quality of living and affordability,”

That's an older picture as about half the cladding is now complete on this building. Also of note, Breaux-Bridge street seen under construction in the background is now complete and connected to the roundabout.
