That's a good point. The Riverwalk is a somewhat intimate setting, so skyscrapers right on it would seem a bit much. It may happen someday, but I think the taller buildings somehow "belong" farther away from the river. They give a nod to business and highrise living, as opposed to dining and touristing in a more relaxed and/or party atmosphere that is the Riverwalk.

Thanks for the photo, Raul. I always appreciate seeing buildings in context from a distance, as opposed to looking straight up at them from below.

This and the UTSA building are both good additions, although they both have really skinny windows. IMO that's less important for the UTSA building because it's an academic facility.

Gosh, I love this building so much. This is so elegant and modern. Plus with the new technology and the riverwalk restaurant. There was so much thought that went into this. Good to know this topped out too.

I wonder what kind of top lighting this beautiful building will have.

Business Journal posted a gallery recently of the inside of the Floodgate. Looks like there will be some really nice views for those lucky enough to live there.

Curious to see how the facade is gonna turn out on this one. Regardless, it'll be nice to break up the beige with some glass/(white?) and Commerce is making a nice canyon now.

Hopefully these lease up quick and this will be a further catalyst to more high rise residential downtown. With The Pearl area going nuts with new developments, there's definitely a demand and I wouldn't be surprised if there's some other projects behind the scenes we don't know about yet.

When the dust has settled that will be my favorite block downtown. A great mix of old and new.

Taken over the weekend from the Houston Street Garage:

I wonder how its eventual architectual lighting at night, if any, might somehow showcase the octagonal shape in tandem with that of the Tower Life Building.

It will also be interesting to see if its streetscape can stitch back to the humane corner of the Aztec Theater after that stark corner of the Canopy.
