The West Loop/Fulton Market is trying to hard to be Manhattan's Hell Kitchen but I think this building is actually unique and will look good once finished.

Fulton Market/West Loop is nothing like Hell's Kitchen. It's more like 3 or 4 different neighborhoods from Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens smashed together with a bit of Chicago mixed in there.

I think you mean meatpacking? Hell’s Kitchen exists because of zoning, giving it that dense walk-up turn of the century feel, and there’s definitely no tech. There’s a few old stretches of river north that have a HK vibe, but FM with its boutiques hotels and tech offices IS very similar to meatpacking.

^ Yea your correct with the comparison to Meatpacking in NYC...even the Cobblestone crosswalks/Intersections that was recently added making it even more similar.

The Sun-Times mural map says five different artists from the B_Line Project created the mural. The Sun-Times wrote up an article about this specific mural, detailing the contributions from each artist

Thank you! I was thinking maybe Bird Milk but it didn't totally seem to fit. Though I do see one of his signature characters on the right side of the mural from the article link. That map is awesome - thank you and saved!

This is a great perspective that shows just how much of an impact this building is going to have on the immediate neighborhood even though it's only 495 feet tall.

^It's like planting a mature tree in shrubland. That will soon be a forest.

^^ What's so funny, if I remember correctly, is how neighbor complaints caused NOBU to shave a few stories off the original plans for being too tall. Soon it'll be the baby in the WL family.

I remember thinking the Nobu was out of scale for the block a few years ago.

Ha! Joke is on me.

Haha, remember WLCOs lame "informal height limit" West of Halsted.

rgarri's mock-up posted above is like a dozen middle fingers all aimed at WLCO.

Couldn't happen to a more deserving group.
