Chilli Chutney is a local Brandon based operation. It looks to be an expansion into Winnipeg.

Article in the WFP about Friend Bakery & Pizza at 380 Osborne:

380 Osborne is not my favourite new building aesthetically, but it’s really nice to see some of these new developments secure good ground floor tenants.

We need critical mass of residential & commercial density in these areas a hell of a lot more than we need shiny pretty Toronto-looking buildings.

Agreed. This is why i hope that that Transit proposal to turn the vacant gas station lot into a parking lot doesnt come to fruition and we can get more buildings like that one. Thats a pretty bleak walk between osborne village strip and the south osborne strip

Link to the Friskee Pearl website:

Looks like they'll start with a week of live music, then have it every weekend. Nice to see a live music venue opening up on that spot.

Bar Accanto opening at 102-300 Tache Ave, next to Nola. Same ownership group I believe. Here is the website:

Looks great. I’m excited for this, I love this style of restaurant.

Guess so - same ownership group as K+B/Nola, so trying a new concept it would seem.

The Tallest Poppy on Sherbrook is closing at the end of May. Apparently it will still be open for take-out and select events. I’m pretty sad about this closure, I spent a lot of time there over the years. Unfortunately I cannot say that I’m too surprised, outside of weekend breakfast and lunch, it was never super busy in the restaurant.

RIP chicken and waffles

I was there last week and they were out of 9 items on the menu. Very friendly servers though.

Passero is leaving their space at the Forks Market in July and is moving to 774 Corydon Ave:

The Forks says that they’ll begin an RFP process for the space.

Ah yes, the perfect location for a fancy Italian place - right beside a giant gas station, across the street from an autobody shop and a 7-11 surface parking lot... it's absolutely criminal what was done to that stretch of Corydon.

^Where else should they be? At least they are going concerns and not boarded up store fronts.

wow, lots of stuff happening.

Too bad about the Tallest Poppy. I didnt really care for it, but it was a nice part of the street. I almost wish they would close entirely and give another restaurant a chance instead of just being take out....better than vacant i guess.

I hope whatever replaces Passero keeps the space. It's really beautiful.

I'm surprised the second king and bann didn't work. It was a great place.

It was very good, but I don’t think the space is well located for a lunch spot. I know the hospital is there, but there are not too many other big employers. I think the location is much better suited for an after work and dinner spot. It’ll be nice to have two really cool restaurants side by side.
