Sharjah Unveils Its First High-Speed Sky Pod Network

- Trials for the futuristic SkyWay system are ongoing in Sharjah across its two-kilometre track, featuring suspended luxury pods boasting of speeds up to 500 km/h under a rail that encases eight pre-stressed wires inside a polymer solution, capable of functioning amidst extreme climates and temperatures. Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park says the SkyWay system is set to carry passengers from March on its two-kilometre track, followed by another two-kilometre track expected to open in May. --- Here’s a fun fact about the pods. If a track were to be paved between Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, travelling between the three emirates would take less than 20 minutes.

I love to see this technology FINALLY be commercially developed even if a lot of people have some questions about its origins in Belarus. I've been a fan of it for almost 20 years now so like fans of Hyperloop it seems sometimes dreams do come true! ;-)

Good, let the oil barons be the guinea pig for this goofy gadgetbahn. If it works, great - other cities can invest confidently. If it doesn't work, UAE certainly has the money to replace it with a conventional transit system.
