The 3rd pic is showing its ugly side. Ewwwww. I like the other side though, and the yellow.

So does the tower front on Guadalupe? If so it’s going to be a massive presence right there on the drag.

HORRIBLE design on the Guadalupe side. Totally not pedestrian friendly. No retail, no restaurant. Not even windows at street level. Just a plain tall wall.
Nice job tuning their back to the Main Street!

I agree. The reason for it was discussed in one of the project presentations, and IIRC it was due to class rooms being at street level. Windows and the views from inside would be a distraction to class room activities.

Talked with someone on-site when I was walking past. Demolition is soon to start on both buildings at St. Austin's that sit along 21st. Sidewalks closed and protective pedestrian infrastructure already built out.

Facing west down 21st:

Facing south down Guad:

Are most towers in this area 300 ft because of zoning or demand?

Both, I would assume.

Max height is around 300ft IIRC, and demand is high. So they're all ~300ft to meet demand.

Only one is 300 ft so far, 300 was the recently increased max height for the area.

I have strange feelings about this one. I went to St. Austin's for elementary school so to see it forever torn down kinda makes me sad; though in the long run this is a better use of land.

Dang, I got second place in a basketball tournament there once. That was the day my NBA dreams died. Now the gym is dead. I should have petitioned for a historical marker. Oh wait, no one gives a shit.

Neat shot of the exposed interior.

Last building is coming down - not sure how long this one will take, though. The last ones took 2 weeks or so at most.

Looks like (to my untrained eye) they're getting ready to put up a crane.
