I think this certainly raises the bar some amount for developers that have important sites to build on.

What are your thoughts on this?
I mean were getting the Chicago spire redevelopment starting later this year at 1100 feet tall.
and the new site I lsd tower at just shy of 1000 feet so add this in the mix its kinda naturally developing without it.
But for what lots are left I could see them being proposed at a higher density around this thing for sure.

Chicago Spire redevelopment...possibly I thought. Lots to be worked out with that I thought. And that Site I tall one is the last of the bunch planned to go up I thought. Longs ways off.

Correct me if Im wrong...I would love to see all these go up asap

On the one hand, development should spur more development by increasing land values and making denser projects more viable. On the other hand, Chicago has a terrible case of NIMBY'ism and local politicians pandering to those NIMBY's so it may not have the chain reaction of development that we'd like to see.

The spire redevelopment is for sure going bc they lose the zoning after may 2020 and would be tedious to rezone. Related wants to move asap on this for that reason.

Site I could be 2-4 years away.

How crazy would be be if construction of 400LSD, Tribune, Parcel I and NEMA II (Not sure the time frame for that one though?) all overlapped?

We could be looking at 5 supertalls this cycle, and some like OSC that aren't too far off.

^ probably, but it's very cool to see such a massive crane down in the sunken parking lot.

Would somebody with good rendering or photoshop skills be able to add this tower to this existing shot?

Curious what it would look like and to get an idea of how it will stand among its peers.

I'd imagine it will really complement the Trump Tower, if my bearings are right, it will be somewhere near it.

From my 3d model of Chicago

It's going to be right off Michigan Ave to the East, so not really "near" the Trump Tower in your photo, though just a few blocks away.

Thanks for 3d model.

I think its one of the best designs in the country right now. Not too flashy, but graceful.

Not quite sure how accurate/inaccurate this is, but I tried. I just grabbed the image of Tribune Tower from the first page of this thread, so the orientation/direction the tower is facing is probably off as well. Height should be relatively close, as I made sure it was taller than Trump Tower.

Now add OCS and 400 N LSD

What a view, one of the greatest skylines in the world. In my opinion there may be a few that match, but none greater. And the Tribune Tower addition will only add to it.

Aesthetically, one of the best. I think from a pure aesthetic standpoint, its the best in the nation. Has the peaks in the right places, spaced out appropriately when needed, has the topography with the lake front to match, the architectural history spanning the decades and good height to balance everything out.

Maybe something will rise on the spire site. Its a good opportunity.
