City of North Vancouver OKs booze in some parks and public spaces

It's about time.

City of North Vancouver OKs booze in some parks and public spaces

City of North Vancouver council has voted 6-1 to allow alcohol consumption at some parks and public places this summer.

Mayor Linda Buchanan said she believes the municipality is the first in B.C. to pass such a bylaw.

"This summer, city parks will be an extension of everyone's own backyard," she said. "It's about treating adults like adults."

Good call and I know it's baby steps, but really weird decisions of where is okay and where isn't. Only the west side of Victoria Park. Only the north half of Grand Boulevard. Much of central Lonsdale and the city hall plaza, but not the block in front of city hall plaza, and don't you dare step off Lonsdale.

Seems arbitrary and confusing on the ground.

The parks in Vancouver were packed last friday, that one in mt pleasant was full of hipsters there were some food trucks parked around and I am sure a lot of them were drinking. It was just packed. Then it dawned on me its the time of covid and there is no option for anything else to do. Hopefully when it gets back to normal that this tradition of hanging out continues heavily as it is now.
