There's been so much pushback in point breeze against development and against rezoning Washington ave that I have little hope. I just think it's going to take a long time to get anywhere there. I certainly hope I'm wrong since I live in graduate hospital and see the potential. The projects around 22nd-25th and Washington might help. The newbold part of point breeze is decent too.

Point breeze low key has a lot of cool of restaurants/bars now despite development being held back. I agree that I doubt anything will change in terms of rezoning or more dense development as long as Kenyatta Johnson is a council person. But he’s voted in by people probably for that reason so it is what is I guess.

I know this question doesn't really belong in this thread in particular but figured id ask, what happened to the washington ave repaving/improvement project? Did it ever really come to fruition?
I see in the instagram shots they repaved the road but did any of those road diets, greenery, and pedestrian improvements actually happen?

Not west of Broad. Kenyatta Johnson essentially single-handedly blocked the biggest changes, including the road diet, so we're stuck with this for years now. Supposedly some minor improvements are still scheduled to come like sidewalk bump-outs at intersections iirc

East of Broad was done

Yeah, still kind of peeved about Washington ave. Really sucks to cross on the west side. The sidewalks are super narrow too and no space for any planting or trees really. It's a bummer, could be nice.

Well, at least it was repaved and restriped, including the bike lanes.

Sure, but it seems like people drove slower when it was riddled with potholes and you weren't sure where the lane was. Of course then you risked getting run over as drivers tried to figure it out.

I heard that the Giant is supposed to open pretty soon. Liquor license for it has already been posted. It's possible that a lot of work is happening to finish the commercial space.
