Trump Tower took about four years.

It'll depend on how tricky the engineering of the structure is.

Plus, unlike with Trump there is no demolition of an existing structure on the site, it's already clear and ready to go (even the requisite thorium remediation isn't an issue because it was already taken care of when they were building the adjacent residential highrise, iirc).

I've never heard of any thorium south of the river. That was in South Streeterville.

I could have sworn there was remediation work done at LSE, even over at the never-developed Mandarin Oriental site, but admittedly I'm probably wrong..

...or maybe I was right

Hopefully we get another really big building going up before the decade is out. Or 10 more!

Again, I hope not. Hopefully, something even better comes along in the next five years.

I'd thought about Trump's construction. Trump is a significantly larger structure, though - 2.6 million sq ft. I think I've seen Vista cited at 1.8 million sq ft. Volume of space I'm assuming much larger at Trump too, and my guess is that in terms of weight, Trump's 'lead' over Vista will be proportionally even greater than sq ft or volume.........

I certainly can't speak to comparative subsurface conditions.....

So far we got this and Wolf Point in the 1000+ club, not sure when we'll find out about the spire site or if anything worthy will rise there (Related would be stupid to waste opportunity on that site but still not getting my hopes too high).

Chi town will look noticeably different that's for sure, especially with all the 150-250m projects

Any stock market savvy folks think the Chinese stock market sell off might affect this project?

Wanda's stock has fallen almost 50% since June.

My understanding of the Chinese economy is admittedly basic, but I thought major reasons for Chinese investment in foreign real estate included the unstable nature of their stock market, their preference for investing in real estate, and the fact that they've overbuilt in their own country? That would make Wanda's decision to break ground on their first major development in the US more prescient.

Good Point, foreign investment is probably the most stable investment right now. Currently people probably don't want to trust anything with their economy. They don't know what to trust because well the government tries to make everything look good, even when its not...

While true, the only problem is, people or entities generally don't pull a lot of cash out of funds when they are way down.

Can people please stop hyperventilating about things they probably know nothing about. How about patience to see what happens. Wanda may go through the banks just like any other developer. I highly doubt they were just going to throw down $900,000,000 in cash for this project.

Chill the fuck out...
