yes i think it was built in the same way as world trade center.

^Some say its the greatest skyline in the world.
But to me all big city skylines are great!

I love the old standard oil now Aon.

I also find it interesting that this thread has more pages than the Sears Tower and John Handcock building, which are more famous than this one.

I love these monolithic buildings. Such a shame what happened to the WTC, but this is close :-)

I agree...

Could it be said that Aon is really the building that bridges old Chicago with modern Chicago? Remove Aon from that photo, and the skyline looks just like all of the ancient skyline photos I've seen of Chicago with the old-school buildings. Maybe with the exception of 1 Pru.

All I know is remove Aon from that photo and Chicago looks old. Add Aon back in, and the skyline takes a giant leap towards today's skyline.

i don't know about that... IBM, Daley Center and Illinois Center all make Chicago look pretty "new", along with Big John, which is admittedly not in the above photo...
