And I agree, Liberty Place sets the bar so high for blue glass buildings, it would be great to see the trends shift to something else.
I think the W turned out pretty well. I don't mind the glass in that building.

I'm loving the W/Element more Everytime I see it again. I can't wait for the lighting too, should be lit within the next 5 months.

But this phase 2 tower is great news, I've been wanting to see another 700 foot tower to rise in Philly. I know it's just under 700, but it's good for Philly

Do you mind the concrete?

Just kidding. I concur with you and TK that the W uses glass well.

I'd also like to posit that FMC is one of the prettiest buildings in the country built in the last decade.

This really fills out the skyline really nice; really nice; and now if we can get those building in Schuylkill Yards built in the next decade just think of the potential.

Marvelous. Few things give me as much pleasure as when a hole gets filled in.

Wow; this is amazing; this is amazing.
You know it just dawned on me that the skyline will be so vast that you won't really be able to see it fully from the Art Museum or the South Street Bridge when it gets that broad. Wow.

Then the condos from the east we have the Condos at 4th and Callowhill; the Arthaus; Broad and Washington, Broad and Pine.

I can now quote Howard Carter from the discover of King Tut's Tomb; I see things, beautiful and wonderful things

Nice. Could you post the same sketch but from the South Philly stadium panoramic view perspective?

And, this goes back to the discussion that jsbrook, myself and maybe a few others had about having an architect design something striking with boldness and creativity and that the design budget shouldn't diminish that objective. Since this is a preliminary design (fingers crossed), and not sure if it will go through a few iterations, but hoping clearer minds will see that something more bold and striking should go here in this prime and visible location and ask SCD to have a do-over.

remember, philly is not a second class city...we are well established in architectural design in many of our buildings and it's the 2nd decade of the 2nd millennium....stop shortchanging Philly in these designs.

Solomon Cordwell Buenz does some decent work for certain - but they are no world class design firm.

Judging by the other projects on their website, they have decent and well though out designs. We just didn't get one for Cathedral Square. Whether it's world class design firm or not, I don't know what the criteria for that would be. Is it self-anointed?

It was never a “go” per se but more of a vision. Maybe we could build a supertall there someday but there is no legitimate proposal for one yet.

^ The lone voice of dissent seemed focused on the glass tower, which is not the problem in my book. It's the bland CVS brick box of a base.

Is modle proof of Skyline ranking

Ok PHILLY skyscraper/ skyline enthusiast, when and if these west philly towers (Shown in the sketchup model renderings) get built, where will the PHILLY skyline stand nationally? Currently I have it tied with San Francisco behind NY and Chicago.....I don’t include Miami in this discussion because the towers there mostly hug the beach side for miles as opposed to being in one location to form a city district. Will these towers propel PHILLY to # 3 nationally? I know that people in Houston, Dallas and LA point to the number of towers on emporis however, I conclude that unlike the other cities, the PHILLY Emporis list does not include all of the towers in the city. I know for a fact that several older residential towers are not included on the PHILLY emporis list.

What do you think?
