The city looks so much bigger than it did a decade ago. The skyline was impressive driving into town across the Freemont bridge this weekend. The towers in the Pearl set a foundation for the 250-500' towers downtown. There is a lot of depth and texture. In the above picture, for example, when looking from the Freemont you have Park West, Block 216 then 11 West and Twelve West forming a wall of skyscrapers. We may see a pause in construction given various factors, but at this point we have a solid urban foundation. Future development will only bring more activity and vibrance. Our density and skyline is echelons above what it was in 2012.

I think that most folks would probably agree that one of most impressive skyline views is from the upper deck of the Fremont Bridge as you sweep around the curve from the bridge and head south onto I-405. The growing collection of Pearl District high rises form an exciting foreground for the Downtown towers. And with the latest news from a couple of other threads on this site, there probably will be two more Pearl District high rises filling in the gaps. They are the 21-story Welby on NW Kearney between NW 13th & 14th AND the 24-story Allison at NW Flanders and NW 12th.

And I believe another one is the 23 story tower going up on the last remaining plot of land in the north Pearl

I had no idea that the crown of this building would be lit up at night. I'm sure there will be haters, but I think its a wonderful addition.

I'm sure it'll look nice on a building like this, and our skyline can always benefit from this kind of lighting.

It was lit last night. I think that was the first time. Check it out tonight. I'm curious what others think. I thought it was well done.

Could someone please upload a night photo of the illuminated building?

Thank you MNTimberjack for posting the night shot. I wonder if there will be more night-lighting than just the illuminated top. It feels like the tower needs some creative lighting too.

Was it illuminated last night? I can see the building from my apartment, but when I checked a little after midnight last night I couldn't see anything.

No, it wasn't on last night. Maybe it was a test run the other day. Thanks for grabbing the photo. I'm glad someone got it.
