A look at how 270 Park sits above the railyard and new station below...

Where did you get the images from, specifically, the schematic of the tower? I'm curious because that schematic, which initially came from JPMC's own materials, corresponds to the model that Yimby posted.

Those are just MTA graphics, which they use in their reports, specifically Eastside Access.

Can anybody say how much has been shaved off the building so far? Hard to tell in pictures.

Didn’t have time to focus on it, but it looks like just a bit off the top. They’ve been mostly removing the insides and the facade.

Officespace.com - 4 Embarcadero Center, San Francisco. Completed 1982

The shape is kind of late '70s / '80s imo. But I like it. What's old is new again. It looks classic.

Classic in a sense, but this one will come loaded with so many amenities and a striking facade that classic wouldn’t be the first thing that comes to mind. The new Park Avenue meets the old.

It's a similar idea, but JPMC's setbacks are far taller and more pronounced. It will be extremely iconic.

Somewhat what we'll see when this tower finally gets to the construction phase...

And a throwback to construction...

You get to see how massive the tower is, but doesn't even compare in scale with the new 270.

Another interesting thing about both the current 270 and 277 Park Avenue is how it looks like they both have tails, after a fashion. Building codes required setbacks still, but architectural fashion was changing, so you ended up with the setbacks moved to the back and sides, creating that "tail" effect.

Whereas now the new building will use that entire base and soar straight up, with setbacks, to almost twice the height of the old building.

That is seriously insane to ponder.

And right next door, Travelstead Tower was supposed to rise, an impressive 1080' but would have been dwarfed by what's going up here now. That would have been quite the sight.

All made possible through zoning. The city could have done this long ago, but the need wasn't as urgent.
