I would like to see the alleyway between this new residential proposal and Cortex One.

I'm happy for new residential, more investment and getting rid of the surface parking lot, but I'm not particularly fond of this design.

It's not terrible, just too traditional (or simple), I think.

And although there are a lot of historic and traditional buildings in the district, the design aesthetic for the district should be ascending.

Four-year medical school planned for north St. Louis, aims to increase workforce diversity

link to Post-Dispatch article

Quote:
A new four-year medical school with the goal of diversifying the medical workforce with doctors who want to work in poor urban and rural areas is coming to north St. Louis.

Plans call for construction to begin late this year and opening with a freshman class of 150 in fall of 2022.

Ponce Health Sciences University, with a main campus in Puerto Rico and a branch in St. Louis, is scheduled to announce an $80 million commitment to develop the new campus at Jefferson and Cass avenues at a media event Friday.

Wash-U grows into the Cortex

Continuing with a medical theme in announcements, Washington University is going to build a $600+mil, 609k sq. ft. neuroscience building in the heart of the Cortex District at Duncan & Newstead, opening by 2023. The current site is a large parking lot adjacent to MetroLink tracks behind DuPont's office building in the district. This continues with this area being one of the hottest markets in St. Louis for new construction, and further aims at creating a seamless link between downtown, midtown, & the Central West End.

-More renderings (different angles) of the Washington University's $616-million, 11-story, 609,000 sf neuroscience research building, designed by Chicago-based Will and Perkins, to be built on the edge of CORTEX.

-In my opinion, the design is kinda plain-jane, but it will be one of the largest neuroscience buildings in the world. I think the design fireworks will be the interior.

-Washington University in St. Louis ranks #9 globally in neuroscience research and education.

I really like this infill. Simple, but appropropiate. There should be more similar to this in North St. Louis -- particularly Lower North St. Louis i.e. Hyde Park, Old North, College Park, St. Louis Place, east JVL.

Can't seem to find a drawing for this one, but if it turns out as well as their previous office renovation it should look great:

Pace Properties has done a great job with this corner infill. The balance/ratio of brick and glass is great, as is the color palette.

What is that brick color, deep purple? Dark Plum?

I also like the overhang. It adds a touch of class. The aesthetic is modern, modest but chic for a small corner infill. Very clean.

I believe Answers.com is moving into this building from another Loop building.
