By "cute & llittle" you mean building skyscrapers taller than are found in all but two U.S. cities! Being a Denverite, I would kill for any Supertall! Heck, 720 feet still eludes us!

More dense than I thought for Beijing...is the PRC Broadcasting building (the 'L' building) going to be built in the CBD? Just like every other Chinese city. No Skyline? Build one in ten years!

Love this tower, a box with angles!

strucutrally it looks like a core-in-tube structure where the exterior and interior elements are tied together with "heavy" steel. . . somewhat similar to the Hancock Center in Chicago. . .

Reminds me of the IFC in Hong Kong (especially near the top).

This one is kind of interesting. I have to admit the color is a little off after cleaning the noise.

The emperor said he doesn't like how it changed the skyline from his throne in the forbidden palace

Just exactly what I'd picture the northern China:

It seems like the business district is situated at the outskirts of the city.

I like the building going on in Beijing but I just wish they wouldnt destroy the cities beautiful culture and historic hutongs in the city centre. The hutongs are one of the most memorable places I would go hang out in when I lived there and now they are destroying most of them, and it just pisses me off. I mean I know they are trying to improve the cities world standings for the Olympics but at what cost to its people and history? I wish the Olympic commity and the world would tell Beijing that they are doing the wrong thing by destroying the cities history for the Olympics, its just sad.

I remember seeing plans for this building a long time ago but haven't really followed it too closely.

As somebody has mentioned, it's amazing how that simple inward curve makes it far less imposing than if it were hard box. I do like this building, it stands out from what are IMO pretty nondescript neighbours.

It's not just for the Olympics, it's happening in Shanghai and other cities in China too.

This building, like the other Beijing skyscrapers and the Olympic stadium, are being build far outside the old city center. So no danger to the hutongs related to this thread.
I must say I like the building, and the location with the other new highrises seems right.

I see some small similarities between this China World Trade Center and the original WTC twin towers. Is this by design or coincidence?

Narrow windows ?
I, too, noticed the similarity. It's probably not intentional.
