220 - 222 Main St W & 115 - 117 George St | 79.2m | 23 & 18 fl | Proposed

Seems the building at George Street will be left, but two buildings on Main W will be demolished. I am not sad to see the building further east go, but the building right on the corner is really beautiful and breaks up the towers. It is too bad they couldn't incorporate it into the building in some way, though I understand that is costly. I remember I had seen a building that maintained a historical house inside the all glass lobby, something like that.

200 of the 319 units are less than 50sm (~500sf).. that’s a lot of small units.

Coletara Developments is behind this project, same developer as platinum.

TheRitsman, did you happen to get a hold of a copy of the project documents here? Would love to take a look if possible.

First thing that jumps out to my eye is that those floor plates are going to be huge...

Thread title should be adjusted to reflect building height. 190m would be very exciting for Hamilton, but alas that is the height above sea level not ground level. The building itself will be only 75m.

Apologies, I just put the number on the zoning documents, didn't have a chance to look at it in detail.

Unfortunately I only got site plans. I had been discussing with Jason Thorne about various things including the pedestrianized area here and was curious about how this development would interact.

From my count we’re now at 2 at Main & Queen (SW and NE) as well as two at King & Queen (SE and NW)

Between this and 235 Main ST W, definitely going to need wider pedestrian friendly sidewalks. It would do wonders for what they call the Main Street promenade or whatever the street signs say. Maybe in the future since the LRT doesn't use Main till much further east (after Gage), this five lane speedway can be converted to two way and encourage more businesses to benefit from wider pedestrian walk ways and less drive through the corridor traffic.

I've asked the planner on the file to consider requesting the development to push the sidewalk against the building and widen it, and put the grass and trees against the street. In my opinion, this is a much more pedestrian friendly design. I've also voiced concern with the lack of commercial space if it is removed from the Main street properties and not replaced.

I've got a funny feeling we will be losing La Luna and Casbah soon enough at this rate.

Sad Face.

Hess Village always was such a promising location. That area is going to completely transform in the next 5 years. The influx of people is going to be fantastic for all these bars, shops and restaurants.

I'm not suggesting that the image above should be believed but it does kind of look like the proposal is behind the row of houses which is something that could be cool. There is enough room in the parking lot behind to build the tower and preserve the frontage on Main and Queen and Hess. They look to be in good shape. Who knows, maybe Doors will get a bit of well deserved love and care.
