Edmonton doesn't draft a defensemen or goalie with their first pick for the third time in a row.

^ Yeah I don’t get that
And the available goalies on the market are dwindling:
Husso goes to Detroit, Georgiev to Colorado, Vanecek to NJ and Fleurey re-ups in Minny.
That leaves Campbell or Keumper or another ?? they will have to overpay.
And I can’t see Soupy going to Edmonton and he’s not really a solution anyway.

Meanwhile in southern Alberta the Flames finally made their first (of only 3) selections in this years draft at #59 overall. They better make them count.

The first one is so good, why not grab another one?

There's something to be said about taking the best player available at that point in time, but at some point I think the staff needs to go all in on scouting defensemen and goalies and that is it. Unless it's a blindingly obvious selection in the first five picks it has to be something for the back end. This was not blindingly obvious.

And Pettersson passes to Pettersson who shoots and scores. Pettersson's third, no wait, was that number 40 or number 50. Damnit. This is even worse than the Sedins.

Duncan Keith's retiring. Ken Holland's master plan is coming together, whatever plan that is. Kassian and Keith off the books.

Ya its funny and dumb at the same time lol.
Apparently he was slated to be a 2nd rounder by some scouts so considered good value in the 3rd.
And apparently his and our first round picks favourite player is the original Elias Pettersson.

Dumb luck would be my guess.

There could be more people there than at a Coyotes' regular season game!

And the digs are quite similar too!

Edmonton actively going after Giroux or negotiation tactic with Kane?

It looks like the Leafs have acquired that ever elusive missing piece for that lengthy playoff run. They have traded for goalie Matt Murray from Ottawa.

Farewell Doob.

With Mathieu Perreault gone and possibly soon PLD, who will the local SRC go to for post game interviews?
