This density is great tho, but a full glass tower would do great in CC or the like.

Lets also remember we dont have to go at each others necks for difference in opinion we all are here for development
Speaking of location, this style building would look great on the Rite Aid plot at 23rd & Walnut vs. the current crap proposal.

(Also, if a building only looks good from certain angles, is it really that "fantastic"?)
Honestly, I find this ironic, because the way this conversation reads to me:

1: This building is fantastic!
2: No, it really isn't.
1: Um, ok. Sigh.
2: Why are you attacking me? This is totally subjective anyway. But let's be honest, it isn't fantastic.

Tony's primary objection seems to be that it isn't faced in stone because it's in Society Hill / Old City, which is honestly something that I would not personally want to be a design consideration. I really enjoy contrasts of old and new materials and designs.

And I take back what I said about the view from the north being the least flattering. I drove down Columbus Blvd. yesterday and this thing popped with the elongated grid at the pinnacle. It looks even better in person than it does in photos.

I'll cap this by saying it's all a matter of taste, of course, and if one side wants to call it fantastic, that's fine, and if another side isn't a fan, then that's fine, too, but maybe the non-fans could be a little more accepting of the fact that some people really do like the building quite a bit instead of repetitively telling them that they need to be honest with themselves?

Anyone know if there is any lighting scheme planned for this building? It looks like the mechanical floor would be perfect for a nice LED strip at night

Agreed, LED's around the parapet like Arthaus wouldn't be bad

wishing and hoping that zahav moves into this building and they build another tower in place of its one story building and the large parking lot next door to it

The building Zahav is in and the parking lot are both owned by the Society Hill condo association. Good luck getting them to sell that…. Especially when you tell them you’re building a high rise that will block their precious views…. Long story short, it ain’t happening

Using Google Earth, this tower is going to have fantastic views of the skyline. St James is perfectly sandwiched by The Laurel and Two Liberty Place, and the views of the towers open up greatly and looks stunning. Also, the Art Museum and Independence Hall will be in the view too!

that mechanical floor would be a perfect opportunity to do some lighting similar to the Laurel's. would look amazing from the river and really give some good night lighting to that side of the skyline

If you want lighting in the building at all, since it would cause an unacceptable disturbance to the residents of Society Hill, that were obviously there first and can thus veto any further changes to their urban renewal project of a neighborhood, you have to fight the Society Hill Civic Association board members to the death using Edmund Bacon's pen.
