Honestly, patients having to pay $8-$10 for their appointment can be a financial constraint and when my parents decided to park farther away and walk, they were approached constantly asking for smokes or change. No one ever got violent with them, but they are in their 80's.

My 84 yr old mother specialist was in there for a short period of time. now is on Sterling Lyon somewhere. more convenient to get to go (they drive), easier to park and no undesirable characters approaching them.

That is an issue with any urban hospital. When my dad was in the last couple of years of his life he was sick and often in and out of hospitals, my family must have spent a small fortune on parking.

I guess an outpatient clinic doesn't have to be next to the hospital, but the doctors can be a lot more efficient when they are located there. If you are the patient who needs something urgent, you are probably glad that they can cross the street and be there right away.

I don't think there's an easy way out of this... there are going to be drawbacks no matter where the clinic is located. Unless government funds free hospital parkades... then there is no longer a problem, ha.

The situation at Manitoba Clinic is so bad currently 3 of the 5 office floors are fully closed per signs posted in the building. Also the directory is noticeable sparse.

PS this thread should be updated as the building is no longer U/C as it is completed and been open for some time.
