Winter beaches, Montreal grit and beauty, another great Victoria set by The Great Scaper and the best Saskatoon set I’ve ever seen equals a very enjoyable page thus far! Thanks for taking the time to share everyone

I agree. That was a great page of photos. The Saskatoon ones really stood out.

^ Nice, but you should start putting captions in to let us know what the dog is thinking.

I visited Trois-Rivieres for the first time recently. Charming little city. I looked and felt much bigger than Sherbrooke.

Lmao I love that idea, but I'm afraid her real thought is probably "this f*ckin as*hole making me sit for another damn picture?! "

Trois-Rivieres is a small city, but it feels like a real city. It has history, a port, imposing buildings, urban streets... it looks great.

Trois-Rivières has so much potential. Like a lot of smaller cities, I feel like its urban environment has been degraded by decades of car-oriented planning, but there are some really nice corners of town.

It's a mid-sized city of about 150k. In Canada, medium-sized cities have between 100k and 1M people. It's even less with ''population centres''

100k over : large urban
30k to 100k : medium
30k and under : small

That's all just semantics. For me, Trois-Rivieres really is a "small city". It's basically the size and scale of a Montreal borough. It feels and looks like a pocket-Montreal. Very charming. So much potential.

Trois-Rivières might feel bigger than Sherbrooke to some (when Sherbrooke is bigger) because the former's urban form is "tighter".

A couple of weeks ago I visited Shawinigan, which is a 30 minutes from Trois-Rivieres. I was only there for a day, but I fell in love with its post-industrial grit and its solid urban bones. I have since extensively researched the history of the city and it's just fascinating. It is a planned community, built to accomodate the workers of the first hydro electric plants in Canada. The Aldred building in Montreal, was built by the same guy who founded Shawinigan. As far as declining post-industrial towns are concerned this one is in remarkably good shape. And I would certainly nominate for best urban feel for a city of appox 50,000. On the same level as St John, NB.

The art deco city hall. Built in the late 40's reminds me of the Verdun city hall, or the Hamilton GO station.
