Ok ok Steely... the more I look at the two buildings, the more I see what you are getting at. That said, I do like One Chicago better - more substantial, greater presence, I really like the way the setbacks flow then stop at the right point leaving a sufficient amount of the top portion of the building alone to jut up and look regal -- all done with a strong nod to deco.

To my eye, just a better looking building overall.

They haven’t said it yet but the diagram height is right under 1,000 feet.

900 total parking spaces (225 for Holy Name)
3 levels of below grade parking
2nd level will be all grocer store
But they do have parking on the 3-7th level but it will be surrounded by residential.
8-9 will be a fitness center and spa

So there is above ground parking? If it's surrounded by active uses that checks the box for me. But damn that's still an awful lot of parking?

And under 900'? Ahhhhhhh, c'mon, guys!

Under 900'? The diagram posted says 962' to the roof and the image looks like it hits 1000'

A DNAInfo reporter quoted Hopkins saying he "wants this to be an "impetus" for an improved Chicago Ave. It should be like 57th in New York."

That's a good sign so far.

Wow, that's one hell of a building. Hope this gets built, even with the height deficit.

Just read (Kamin) where they are still working out the design for the top of the building so who knows.... still could be over 1,000.

Why would they change the height that quickly and with no push back? VE'ing the design of the roof, perhaps? Seems too petty unless they decided they couldn't sell a few more units.

Consolation: supertall height = 984 ft
