No one suggested you asked a question honey. I'm merely stating that none of the floor plans on the website show residences on that floor. But maybe that's because they are purchased already. I don't know. This is a discussion forum, just trying to discuss. Don't get your panties in a twist.

How this is the backside of the building I have no idea, it's the one everybody stares at driving north on lake shore drive.

Also that little louver on the bottom kinda looks like a bowtie.

Whoa there. Easy turbo. No need for name calling, and I don't have anything in a twist. I am just stating facts unlike most people on this forum who just want to speculate about things.

Look at what 1 Vanderbilt did in New York, they simply pushed every other glass panel back a foot or so and created a nice glass louver system that looks great.
There are ways this could have been done that would have looked nice and worked with the design.

As of now it looks like a last minute decision. Even the color of the louvers doesn't seem thought out.
I'm sure there was some VEing but even so they could have been a bit more creative with a solution, imo.

^ That option was brought up recently. Someone involved in the project said it was rejected based on cost.

One Vandy was executed beautifully.

Everything on this project was rejected based on cost.

^ Ha, they really stuck to the "Made in China" creed. Still, it's a nice building for being built on the relative 'cheap'.

There is a surprising amount of work being done on Vista today. I've been checking the webcam (https://public.earthcam.net/vista/vi...er_view/view_3)
and they have done a lot of work on the lower floors. I noticed they also put up part of the awning for the hotel entrance. The link below is to a picture of the base.

It may be hard for some here believe, but I would put money on the fact that all these better alternatives for the black louvers suggested here have been heavily thought of and proposed by the architects in Gangs office. It's easy for us to point at all the examples of things that could of been done but sometimes in the real world it just doesn't work out that way. It has nothing to do with lazy Architects or that they somehow didn't think of a brilliant solution that you did.

Yes, but the refusal to depict any solutions at all in the renderings is the unforgivable crime... it's basically an admission that they were unable to create an acceptable solution...

Renderings aren't used for actual design, or for solutions. They are conceptual at best. They are simple pretty pictures, that show a nice concept for marketing brochures with little to no thought of reality. It is an unfortunate fault in the "design" world. Maybe someday the designers will start to account for these things from the beginning instead of treating them like afterthoughts.

I'm sure a lot of thought was put into the color of the louvers. Unfortunately the answer that came back was black. I have no words for that decision. Maybe this will have to do.
