a look at the Indiana side of the buildings that will be razed for the UCSF Minnesota St housing (the ones very visible in the foreground, and one on the other side of the 18th St bridge to Potrero Hill)

sort of a before pic of an intersection (Third and 16th St) that will look much more crowded in a couple years or so as projects rise on 3 of the 4 corners. from street level...

... and from above (the lot in the lower-right I believe is slated for the next phase in UCSF's development schedule, so won't rise with the other corners. maybe WC can remind us if there is a more specific timeframe)

block 1 taking its place on the southern side of the creek, flanking the entrance to Fourth St

the Uber site

Correct, no specific timing on that one, Block 25B. It's envisioned as a prominent tower given its location, but it'll definitely be in a later phase given how much is involved in the current one getting underway.

UCSF's Block 33 project in that shot will "kick into gear" July 17 to finish clearing the site. They've already been working on draining standing water and clearing weeds.

Nice to see this developed. I've lived in Mission Bay for a while, and this has been a gap of nothingness for the longest time.

I think that can be said about almost all of the parcels that get developed in Mission Bay!

The Exchange

Something new in my view caught my eye today. The middle low-rise of The Exchange stands out on the back side of the building. (telephoto lens used)

Yep! You can see some movement on Chase Center construction cam ('Mixed Use #2 and 3)

And nice shot, Jerry!

elsewhere...

they've been working on the intersection of Mission Rock and Terry Francois; maybe another sign that Mission Rock will open up soon

and demolition of the buildings between Minnesota and Indiana for UCSF housing has progressed... on the Indiana side:

Minnesota side

looking through the site from Minnesota to the new development on Indiana

detail of the disappearing building

the parcel on the north side of 18th has been totally cleared

work has started on the little plaza on the south end of the Indiana development

the Exchange

the little one on Mariposa

trailer on site at block 23, but no real activity yet (tho something is going on on the Quad - tree removal?)

Uber

what I think will be a dog run on parcel P5 between Azure and Arden

block 6E

new plantings have gone in at the west end of Mission Bay Blvd, first activity there in a while

Rutter views (the parking lot expected earlier is there now)

Great shots, timbad...thanks for the extensive update!

Regarding Minnesota Street housing for UCSF, clearance and grading on the north side will be completed this week, as you've basically seen. Foundation work begins later this week. On the southern side, they should be doing noisy demolition of the existing foundation this week as they finish things up. There's apparently an old safe from one of the warehouses that will be saved and restored as an art piece for the new complex.

They're starting a project to extend the utility system to serve 23A. Some trees do have to be removed, and landscaping will be restored when they're done. Should start to see some work within the 23A footprint as soon as today, as they need to move an underground water line.

Thanks WildCowboy...between you and timbad, we are well informed about Mission Bay! Too many people forget what its original mission was; we are beyond fortunate that UCSF chose it as the site for their second major campus.

You're channeling the St. Charles streetcar, New Orleans. But it's not a very urban image and doesn't really work other places:

Actually I'm channeling Barcelona, Paris and literally dozens of other high volume modern systems with grass tramways around Europe and the world. SF's T-Third would have been the ideal candidate and would have brought a nice dose of greenery to the area.

This doesn't work in this urban location?

^^Don't know who maintains that and keeps it green, but I guarantee you in our climate where there is no rain for several summer months it wouldn't stay green long unless watered and we all know that water conservation policies, now and especially in the future and/or drought years, would not permit that. Two years ago there were beautiful camelias all around the CA PUC building on Van Ness: Now 80% dead for lack of water. And so it goes.

Appropriate hardscape is much more practical for hardworking transit infrastructure in the city.

with more exposure on the center one we can make out more details - the semicircular parcel at the west end of the Commons has had more green added to it. kind of disappointed it seems to just be grass, but we'll see if there ends up being more to it

not much left of the other Minnesota building now. so strange to be able to see through the site walking around

the Exchange in context from Third

the 'Three Corners'

Uber

Fourth St, where two more restaurants are to open soon: a pizza place and an Ethiopian
