A few random comments and questions...

1) I went to the Meridian Iron Works museum once for a 4th grade field trip.

2) I had no idea that the house across the street from the public library was used in the movie Halloween!

3) This house is currently listed on the market for $3.3 million...

4) Is this street Oaklawn?

Who has the most craftsmans? (as a % of the building stock) out of SoPas, HLP, Mt.Washington and Eagle Rock...

I saw this darling near the La Estrella taco truck in Eagle Rock a while back:

4) Is this street Oaklawn?

1) I've been to the Meridian Iron Works museum 2 or 3 times since I've been living in South Pas, which has been over 11 years now.

2) Yup! I walk around South Pas often, even at night, and sometimes I purposely hum that "Halloween" theme.

3) Wow! At the same time that doesn't surprise me.

4) No, it's actually Spruce Street, east of Fair Oaks Ave. I've walked down Oaklawn many times, though. And on the bridge, of course.

Thanks for posting an area of LA that is rarely seen. I especially enjoyed the history of the area. Keep 'em coming.

I didn't realize I posted this thread over 2 years ago now. Mah how tahm does flah!

Some other South Pas pics, taken bei mir...

South Pas neon, taken on hot September night this year; I just had to go for a walk and took the camera with me:

Flash forward a few months to mid-November, when I left my apartment and took a cool, autumn Saturday morning walk.

The wild parrots of South Pasadena.

Why would you put a tacky leaded-glass Home Depot door on a Craftsman?

California oaks don't change color in the fall, nor do they lose their leaves in winter.

Cute duplex.

Garfield Park.

A garden in Garfield Park dedicated to dead children.

OK wait, a Craftsman bungalow augmented with an awkward 2nd story addition, and then a gate that looks like that? Epic fail. Actually, this is worse than an "F," it's a big red "F" and a "Please see me." This looks like something you'd see in Sherman Oaks.

A citrus tree in your yard is so quintessentially old-school southern Californian.

Drought-tolerant Xeriscaping.

Brick houses are not common in California.

No one's in the pool.

I liked the crooked lamp on top of the lamp post.

I liked the look of this old, rusty lamp post with the paint peeling off of it. I wonder how old it is.

Monterey-style house.

I liked the look of this old door.

I wasn't sure what to think of this house. I guess it's a nice house, it's just not my style, I guess.

This looks like a mini Tara.

This neighborhood has trees growing right in the middle of the street.

Sometimes I don't mind power lines and utility poles.
