Who owns this building? That might say something to the likelihood of this plan happening.
The entrance to the upper floors is the escalator on the east side. It’s shown in one of the renderings. They mentioned that in the zoning meeting. Look at slides 4-6 https://www.centercityresidents.org/...2020230330.pdf

The building is owned by Goodman properties. They’ve owned the building since the 90s and seem committed to the site. They seem reputable but as with most things, time will tell.

The developer has owned it for about 30 years (since 1994). And their project architect is Eric Leighton with CBP Architects, successor firm to Cecil Baker + Partners.

The residential and parking entrances will be on 19th Street. These guys seem pretty conservative. They've owned the property since the 90s. They could partner with a developer if they can't get it done themselves, or get the plans approved and sell it. Not sure why they would go through the motions and spend all of this money for shits and giggles.

I’m wondering if the old folks in the neighborhood that sued bankroll will try to block this.

I saw the mention here just after the meeting ended, but they’ve since posted it online on the CCRA youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2ovwVU2blM&t=33s

Apparently this was just a quick reprise of the longer past meeting, due to concerns about the extent of notifications for the previous big meeting. So nothing new to see here really.

I like that the renderings still show the other building too. Man would I love to see these two get built.

If any new update happens it will be posted on this forum pretty quickly. No reason to post and ask if anything is happening! You got my hopes up that there was new development with the project!

I don’t think it’s imminent, but no worries. The developer, Goodman Properties has owned the building for 30 years and can make their move when they see fit. See the relevant excerpt from the March Inquirer article:
Due to the uncertainty of the economy, a date for groundbreaking has not been set.

“It’s not the easiest time to do development projects right now, but that’ll hopefully change quickly,” [Adam] Goodman said. “We’re going to put ourselves in a position to hit the go button when it makes sense to do it. It’ll be a temporary blip, but we’ll get back on track.”

Tower Time! Zoning permits were issued today for a 45-story addition on top of the CVS at 19th & Chestnut. This 500+ foot tower will add to the residential density and excitement in the area, with 213 residential units and 64 underground parking spaces. How are you liking the look here?
