Arrow AUSTIN | 311-315 S Congress | 480 FT | ? FL | Proposed

I saw a permit filed for a 330 ft office building at 311 S Congress. This is the current Firestone building (and unless I'm wrong this is separate from Endeavor's big plans for the Statesman).

This one has Page associated with it. 475k sq ft.

Is this news to everyone else?

Here is the link to what I could find for this address on the city's permitting page. It's a Development Assessment request. Looks separate from the South Waterfront project.

That's definitely a new project - 465K office, 10K retail

REALLY HAPPY to see this, TBH. The Statesman site is its own thing, and of course integral to South Shore overall, but certainly not the whole enchilada. Lots of other individual parcels are also going to have to go tall in order for it to do what it's intended to do. And because I'm a fanatic, I wish this one was going to be even taller than the 330 ft noted here. But still . . . 330 is pretty good.

Great news. I am a little suprised they were able to get 330 feet here. I couldn't find much info on the south central waterfront district. Does anyone know if the max height is 330 feet, or if they used some other mechanism to get there?

Hope to see this area developed more in the future.

They are seeking PUD zoning to build. Since 305 S. Congress was approved for 525', they shouldn't have any trouble getting approval for 330'.

This is so disappointing! This is my favorite place to get work done on my automobile. Another nail in the coffin...

I'm going to miss driving by that spot a couple times every week and not remembering what was there.

If my frontal lobe were still intact I bet I'd be pissed right now.

All jokes aside, that is where I used to get my tires fixed whenever I got a nail in one. It happens a lot when your whole neighborhood is a construction zone. It was very convenient when I worked Downtown. But now I do not work there, so I'd rather it be put to a better use.

That Firestone has been franchised by a family that’s been in Austin since 1865. Not gonna happen on my watch!

Demo also includes that building to the right of the tire place with the large parking lot in front. Not sure what goes on there.

My go-to is Leal's Tire shop. Has been since 1998.

Leals and the 2 guys on the corner of I35 frontage and Cesar Chavez. Best deal in town for a tire patch for a broke college kid in ‘87! And they are still going strong. Can’t imagine they will survive the new highway improvements in that location.

Firestone usually patches it for free. Can't beat that price!
